Adoring Cocker Spaniel sitter needed in Brisbane
Hi, I am a teacher who loves a good coffee ; healthy life style outdoors and a the joy of travel. My 9 year old Cocker Spaniel, Poppy, comes with me wherever possible - be it the wonderful array of local pet-friendly cafes ; forest trails ; riverside walks or the beautiful Sunshine or Gold Coast beaches.
Our Home & Location
I live in a 2 B/R air conditioned flat (lounge and main b/r) in very quiet location in Brisbane's Western Suburbs with a lovely long balcony for evening summer drinks with a leafy outlook. A short 5min walk takes you to a never ending array of funky cafes, shops, casual dining. Fine dining restaurants are 2 train stops away. Frequent trains ( 5 mins walk )take you into the growing city of Brisi or 20 odd mins by car to the river at South Bank, forest dog -friendly walks and picnic areas at Mt Cootha/Simpson's falls or Rocks Riverside Park and walks along the river at Jindalee. There is plenty of free on street parking or a very large lock up garage should I have taken my car. The flat is in a well maintained block with a garden. Non smokers please.
Responsibilities & Pets
Poppy loves a cuddle and will charm her way into your heart for a regular pat, so will need someone willing to show affection. She’s may come and jump on the couch for a bit but will soon hop down and go onto her bed with her teddy.
As the flat has no access to a garden , and Poppy has had 2 cruciate knee ops, she 'll need a morning walk (round the block ) and at least 10 -30 mins in the evening to toilet and exercise. She is food driven so needs firm reminders to sit for a pat and not to enable her jumping up....
She loves company and walks and is very good in the car, so if you are happy to take her with you to dog friendly cafes or the beach, all the better. Once walked she will find a cool corner and snore like a freight train most of the day.
She was a therapy dog at the children’s hospital so is very gentle if children approach for a pat but they must be closely monitored by parents. She’s no longer happy if approached boisterously ( as kids some times try hug face on or give belly squeezes ) but will adore gentle kids.
Other than that - she’s easy to motivate ( food) and pretty low maintenance. 1 Small handful of dog bikkis in the morning and 1 cup at about 5pm. Daily fresh water bowl filled due to Brisi heat. + More info
