Christmas on the Gold Coast.... House/Pet-sitter required
We are a family of 4 humans plus 2 fur babies. We are looking for a reliable dog/house sitter who will take care of our fur babies when we are away. Someone who is an animal lover like us and loves dogs in particular to come and stay in our home and look after our babies so they don't have to be disturbed. Our pets are part of our family but due to age and small health issue they need to stay in their own home. We want our minds to be put at ease while away.
Our Home & Location
We have a 4 bedroom, 2 living room and 2 bathroom home in Maudsland on the Gold Coast. We have NBN, and Foxtel. An above ground pool in the backyard if it’s hot and of course air-conditioning to be comfortable inside. The house is generally low maintenance, the pool is on a timer, we will have a pool guy come out and clean the filter however the skimmer basket will need to be checked daily as our lovely neighbors have bamboo which loves to gather into our pool. The water level of the pool will need to be checked daily to ensure it does not drop below the minimum level. We have a park, gym and pool at the end of our street. We know our neighbors very well and we all have surveillance cameras to keep an eye on the street. We live in a quiet suburb. It’s a 10min drive to Westfield Helensvale which has the train, light rail and bus facilities and of course the essential supermarkets, Target, Kmart and specialty stores. There is a Coles supermarket within walking distance of our home. There is a bus stop at the end of our street, I am unsure of the routes though I am sure a public transport savvy person would have no problems at all. Movie world, Wet and Wild and Outback Spectacular are a quick 5min drive away. Dreamworld is a 15 min drive and SeaWorld and Surfers Paradise are about a 25 min drive. Access to the M1 is only a 5min-drive. Mount Tamborine is approx 15mins away and have great weekend markets (just check their website to make sure of market dates).
Responsibilities & Pets
Tye our beautiful golden retriever (our fur baby) is 12 years old and suffers from arthritis so requires half a tablet of medication each morning. He is a gorgeous dog and loves the company of humans. He does not bark (only when he gets excited sometimes which usually scares him) Due to his arthritis he does not go on walks. He is happy to sit with someone in the front garden of an afternoon and watch the world go by (needs a human out there to watch he doesn’t decide to go for a wander). He sleeps inside/outside the main bedroom and has both an indoor and outdoor bed. He has an inside and outside water bowl which will need to be monitored regularly as he drinks a lot of water. When we are home we leave the back screen door slightly open and if he wants to go out he can open it however hasn’t worked out how to close it yet. If it is shut he will stand looking out. As he sleeps inside of a night-time if he needs to go out at night after we have gone to bed he will start pacing the hallway to wake you up. This doesn’t happen every night only occasionally or if he has been fed human food. Don't let him fool you, he is an old man and cannot walk far though he will tell you he can, he will jump around when happy like a puppy but the next day he won’t be able to get up. He will also act like he has never been fed, this is only an act. If left to his own devices he would eat himself to death. He will eat anything and everything and will hang around in the kitchen just in case things drop on the floor. Human food does not agree with him. He is a gentle soul and just loves a pat and company. He hates storms and loud noises. The yard will need to be cleaned twice a week to remove his poop.
The cat (Mickey) is a typical cat, if you call he will not come, he will sit at the door and when you open it will turn and walk the other way, he acts like he wants a pat around feeding time but don’t be fooled he only wants food and not pats. He needs feeding morning and night. I promise you he will not let you forget breakfast or dinner time. Mickey is an indoor/outdoor cat, he can’t sleep inside he hates it. He will put on turn when you put him out on your way to bed but if you forget it will wake you up at midnight. He does not leave our property and sleeps on his outdoor bed or on a special spot on the lawn. He is best left alone as he is a grumpy old man (12 years)...
Overall if the house is in the same condition as we left it and the pets are happy when we get home we are happy. + More info
