Autumn in Adelaide leafy suburb with two special kelpies.
We have finally planned a long-awaited holiday overseas and would love the peace of mind of having a trusted, kind petsitter to look after our two elderly kelpies while we are away. We live in the leafy and green north-eastern suburbs of Adelaide in a lovely renovated house with very quiet neighbours. We are both working professionals, Dave is an accountant and Amy works in behavioural sciences, and are keen to connect with a responsible and caring person or couple to care for our home and furry family.
Our Home & Location
Our home is a renovated four bedroom, two bathroom house, with beautiful timber floors, air conditioning/heating, and lovely front and back gardens. We have the house currently set up with two bedrooms (a king and a queen) and a yoga room. There is a major shopping centre with cinemas a short bus or car ride away, and Adelaide city is 30 minutes via the O-Bahn bus (the bus is at the end of our street, just a 3 minute walk). There is a great waterpark not far from the dog park, and the fabulous wine region of the Clare Valley is about 2 hours drive. If you're into the sun and surf, you could be on a lovely Adelaide beach in less than an hour. We have two mountain bikes you are welcome to use, and we recommend the Linear Park bike trail from Tea Tree Plaza bus interchange (5 mins drive) which you can follow all the way to Henley Beach.
Responsibilities & Pets
Obviously, caring for our two dogs is top of the short list of responsibilities. Jake and Jimmy, both aged 10, enjoy breakfast and dinner and a trip to the local dog park everyday to catch up with their buddies (so a car is preferable as Jimmy can't walk the distance to the park). They'd also love some playtime with you in the backyard. The more time you can spend with them the better, but they are also self-sufficient in a secure backyard during the day so there's plenty of time for you to explore, shop or dine.
Jake and Jimmy are rescued dogs: Jimmy came to us at 6 months old from a farm when he was found to be too scared of the sheep he'd been bred to work with. He walks with a limp as he has arthritis in his front shoulder and a previous injury to a rear Achilles tendons. He forgets he's getting old, so can't chase a ball like he used to, and can't walk as for as long as he'd like. We found 7 year old Jake at the council pound, lost and emaciated with no idea of his history, but the fact that he likes to sleep on the couch, knows what a doorbell means, and has a knack for unwrapping Christmas presents, tells us he was loved by his previous owner. Both dogs have their various quirks and characteristics, mainly around separation and loud noises, but they are both very well behaved, trained, funny and great company. They just need to be loved and cared for, and they give it back in spades!...
We have beautiful landscaped gardens front and back, so there might be a bit of watering needed depending on the weather, but April is usually mild and sunny. + More info
