My name is Kathi and I am retired and live on a 5 acre property in the Adelaide Hills. I am planning to travel overseas for a trekking holiday in Europe later in 2019 and I need a reliable animal lover to care for my beloved dog and other menagerie while I am away.
Our Home & Location
My home is comprised of several buildings. The main house has 2 bedrooms, 2 lounges and a kitchen/dining/family room. There is also a self contained studio apartment. The heating is primarily combustion heaters although there is a gas heater and reverse cycle air conditioner in one of the lounge rooms. The property is located in a quiet rural setting with Scott Creek flowing through and adjacent to the Scott Creek Conservation Park where there are numerous walking trails. The nearest town with all amenities is Stirling which is around 11km away. There are no local bus services from the house but transport from Stirling will take you to Adelaide, Mt. Barker and other major centres and to metropolitan beaches. There are also several nearby wineries. If you have the required licence and insurance an old Pajero 4WD may be available for use.
Responsibilities & Pets
The primary requirements for a sitter is the daily care and companionship of my dog. He loves company and regular meals. He has his little routines where he likes to check out what's going on around the property and so needs to have a walk around twice a day although they do not need to be overly long. He is an inside dog who basically owns the house and sleeps on floors chairs and beds. He is reasonably well behaved though does suffer from selective hearing loss if he sees a rabbit, duck or kangaroo. Depending on the time of year the farm animals and chickens may need to be fed and given clean water as required. George the goldfish may need his pond water topped up and a bit of food once a week. Again weather dependent, some care for plants may be required.
