House sitting by the beach on the Great Ocean road
We are an older couple who are still working. We live in the beautiful coastal town of Torquay and work in Melbourne at times. We have 2 dogs, a cat and a garden and we are often going overseas. We would never put our animals into a kennel - we would prefer to find someone that we like and trust to stay in the house and mind the animals and look after the garden. In return the sitter gets to experience life by the beach and the beautiful Surf Coast and the famous Great Ocean Road.
Our Home & Location
Our house has 4 bedrooms and a swimming pool and backs onto a golf course. It is in walking distance to a lovely swimming beach where the dogs can be walked. The accommodation is in one of the guest rooms of the house with a very comfortable king size bed and large bathroom. The house is hydronically heated and is very comfortable with a sunny northern aspect in the large living area. The neighbours are very friendly. The shops are a short drive away and the local beach is 10 minutes walk. There is a bus that goes around the town regularly but it would be better to have your own car.
Responsibilities & Pets
We have two dogs - an elderly Rhodesian Ridgeback, a very young Groodle and an elderly Burmese cat. We love our animals and we want to find the best sitter for them. They are not fed much commercial dog or cat food so there is a bit of cooking involved with their diets. Both dogs need lots of love and attention and need to be walked every day. Juno is a groodle - a poodle/golden retriever cross and she needs to be groomed daily and washed regularly (easily in the shower) The cat sleeps most of the time and just needs to be loved, kitty litter changed and fed. We would want someone to house sit who would be at home most of the time as the dogs are not used to being on their own for long periods of time. The other responsibility would be the garden - making sure that the plants receive enough water - it's not a huge garden but we do have a lot of plants in pots.
