Sitter needed for elderly dog (Westie) and a cat (Tabby)
We are a family of 6, Mum, Dad and four kids (3 of whom are grown up only one at school now) and we all like to travel. We have lived in Melbourne for 20 years but having relatives in the UK we spend a lot of time there. Unfortunately we cant take Sonny Jim and Bunty with us..
Our Home & Location
We live in a large family home in the cosmopolitan area in Melbourne called St Kilda. We live one block from the beach and two blocks from Albert Park Reserve, a large (560 acres) recreational area ideal for walking, running, cycling, golf but proabably best known for hosting The Australian Grand Prix. Our local shopping area is Acland Street; very popular with tourists to Melbourne having many different attractions; Luna Park (a historic amusement park), restaurants and bars and being close to the beach . We have fantastic links with public transport, a choice of many trams that quickly (10 mins) get you into The CBD for more restaurants, theatres, sporting events etc.
Responsibilities & Pets
Both animals need feeding in the morning and Bunty has some more food in the evening. Sonny Jim is 17 years old and doesn’t require much in the way of walking these days. He’s very happy with a 20 min walk in Albert Park to catch up with his friends and have a good sniff. But he hates the rain and refuses to go out in it! Bunty is very independent and apart from feeding, she pretty much looks after herself. Both Sonny Jim and Bunty use a cat flap so they have access to the garden during the day and night whenever they want. So responsibiliies are light; feeding, walking and clearing up the dog poo in the garden once a day. Checking there is plenty of fresh water and give Sonny Jim lots of cuddles.
Sonny Jim is, as I mentioned , a White West Highland terrier, and getting on a bit so definitely not as lively as he once was, but he still gets excited at feeing time and can jump around like a youngster when he feels like it. He has no medical problems and is not on any medication....
Bunty is a rescue cat who came to live with us 12 months ago and fitted into our family perfectly. She and Sonny Jim spend a lot of time together which is why we decided to look for a house sitter rather than seperate them. Sonny Jim used to go to friends while we travelled, but old age and his new bestie means we’ve decided to keep them both at home in familiar surroundings, hoping they wont miss us too much. + More info
