Rural retreat close to Murray River
Hello, my name is Julie. I am a retired secondary school teacher. I used to teach Food tech, Health Education and textiles. I enjoy entertaining, cooking, sewing, gardening and being out doors. I also belong to the local Bush walking club and enjoy hiking. My husband Bruce is a retired policeman who loves researching history, restoring and flying planes, consuming a good coffee and being retired.
We love to go traveling in Australia and over seas. At present our daughter is living and working in Antigua, in the Caribbean and we also have two sons. One living and working in Melbourne and the other living and working in Cairns....
We don't have any relatives living close by to help out with house/pet sitting. + More info
Our Home & Location
We live 14 km out of town within a very short walking distance to the Murray River. You would need a car to travel into town. There is plenty of place to park a car, boat or a van if needed. We have 35 acres but no stock on the land at the present time.
Our house has two sitting areas, a formal dining area and a casual eating area adjacent to the kitchen. There are 4 bedrooms and a study. A bath room, toilet and laundry of course. We have reverse cycle air conditioners and wood heaters to keep us warm and cosy in winter and the aircon for coolness in summer. We also have a large bbq outside under a pergola that may be used. There are a couple of push bikes and helmets available to use if you would like to go for a ride. Our neighbours are friendly and are willing to help out if needed....
Echuca is approx 250 km from Melbourne/ easy access to Tullarmarine airport, situated on the Murray river. Echuca is known for its historical wharf, paddle steamers, water sports, eg water skiing and fishing. There are many wineries in the district that provide tastings and there are a selection of restaurants, bakeries and cafe's in town in which you can indulge in for fulfilling breakfasts, coffee and evening meals. In town you will find a gym and a heated swimming pool. If you wish to go further afield to explore the district you have Shepparton and Bendigo about an hours drive from Echuca. + More info
Responsibilities & Pets
While here you would need to take the dogs (Tonka) and (Blue) for a walk every day and feed /water them. Through out the day Blue entertains himself in the back yard . Blue loves to retreive a ball. Tonka is usually on a leed under the pergola unless you are outside with him otherwise he will go missing, Both dogs are fed and penned up late afternoon.
Lucky the cat loves lots of cuddles. Dry food needs to be available to him all the time and he usually has a small can of wet food of an evening. He has a cat door so he comes and goes as he pleases....
I usually fill up the bird and chook food hoppers once a week and that seems to work and you would need to check that they have water and collect the eggs from the chooks.
I do have a few pots that will need watering and some garden beds. The rubbish bins need to go out on a Tuesday evening. + More info
