Gorgeous Victorian cottage in the Macedon Ranges on 3.5 acres
We are a family of four (two adults and our two primary school aged children) living in Woodend. My husband, Mark, works in Melbourne during the week and we like to get away for weekends and holidays while knowing the our pets are cared for at home in their own environment. We both enjoy working on our property and I ride my horse for fun and competitively. We all enjoy bike riding and the abundance of local bike trails.
Our Home & Location
We live in Woodend, at the base of beautiful Mount Macedon in Victoria and close to all that this amazing area offers including fabulous wineries, bike riding, hiking and more leisurely walks, historic towns, regional produce, wonderful farmers markets and only an hour by train to Melbourne. Our three bedroom, two bathroom renovated Victorian cottage is on a 3.5 acre property and is 1km from the train station and the centre of Woodend but we would recommend house sitters have a car to make the most of all this lovely region has to offer. The house has hydronic gas heating and two wood burning fires so is very cosy in winter. We also have wifi and Apple TV. For house sitters with children we also have an Olympic size, above ground trampoline, a great treehouse with monkey bars and a swing set. Woodend has everything you should need including a large supermarket and various speciality shops plus some great cafes and restaurants. Kyneton and Gisborne are both only 15 mins drive away and Daylesford is an easy 30 minute drive.
Responsibilities & Pets
We love our four legged and feathered family members and would much prefer, when we go away, for them to be looked after on site. We have two friendly (indoor only) cats who love to have a cuddle, two well behaved horses (actually one horse and one mini) and 10 chickens. Our horse needs to be fed once per day and rugs changed if the weather is very changeable and therefore we would prefer house sitters who are comfortable handling horses. We would prefer our chickens to free range most days however due to foxes we don’t leave them out unless someone is home. They are a mix of pure breeds and very friendly. They also provide us with lots of eggs in laying season.
