Quiet estate living (with pets)
Hi, I'm Natasha! I am a 38 yo medical writer who works part time, predominantly from home. I share our detached townhouse with my IT professional husband of 8 years, 4yo son plus our cat and dog.
We are frequent travelers and are looking for a responsible and reliant sitter we can entrust our beloved pets to. In the past, my parents have looked after our dog at their home and checked in on our cat and house every other day....
As we are hoping to start taking longer trips, we feel that this is too much to ask of my aging parents. So we testing the waters here with a short trip but with subsequent trips already booked. Our main goal is to be comfortable enough to entrust the house and pets to someone for a 1-6 month period in the near future.
We are looking for a single house sitter who is preferably retired, works from home or, works/studies part time - so that Echo can maintain his home life balance in our absence. + More info
Our Home & Location
Our home is situated in a private/gated community in the South Eastern suburbs of Victoria. It is a detached townhouse with three bedrooms upstairs - master with en-suite plus and separate family bathroom. Downstairs is the main living area with lounge, kitchen and dining plus laundry, study and powder room. We have a small and neat backyard with large undercover area - there is little to no gardening required in the backyard - except for picking up puppy's 'landmines'! There is also a pool, sauna and gym in the common area. It is a very quiet area with only the residents and occasional visitors passing through. The estate is very 'Stepford' in that all the houses look similar - we all have identical letterboxes.
There is a bus stop just outside the entry to the estate. You are close to local shops (for emergency groceries/2min drive) or larger shopping centers (for major shopping sprees/5-10min). There are also several medical centres and pharmacies within a 5 min drive. Access to the Monash freeway and EastLink is also within 10 mins commute. It takes a bit of effort if the train is your thing, though....
Entertainment - internet/wifi; Foxtel; home theater PC with a vast selection of movies and TV series; pool, sauna, gym in common area.
Note we do not have a clothes dryer; we use clothes horses. + More info
Responsibilities & Pets
Cat - Smudge; 13yo. Ensure she has access to kitty litter (laundry); clean/change kitty litter as required; ensure water and food bowls are full - she will meow for you to leave the laundry tap 'dripping' so that she can drink fresh waters sometimes though! She's is quiet aloof so do not be disheartened if she hides under the beds all day. She will most likely come down in the evening once you are settled and watching tv - and try to cuddle on your lap :) Note: under no circumstances attempt to rub her belly - even if she is lying on her back on the ground as if she wants you to! It's a trick!
Dog - Echo; 7yo. Echo needs to be fed three times a day (1cup kibble floated with water in his bowl); at breakfast and dinner he has a 1Tbs of natural yogurt added to his food. He has virtual boundaries throughout the house and will/should not come inside or go into the study without a 'Yes' or 'Free' command and cannot enter the kitchen/dining areas - no exceptions! He will also need the Yes/Free command to commence eating his food. He is not food aggressive so you can warn him prior to taking his unfinished bowl away if required to. He will happily sleep the day away in the study and does thoroughly enjoy a daily walk. Echo is prone to urinary stones so do not change his diet or give him snacks/table scraps. Red meat can be deadly for him. Echo is a jolly puppy; keen to follow you everywhere and anywhere, that is unless it's after 8pm - that's his bedtime and unless you are carrying a whole roast chicken around the house, he wont even lift his head :) He's not a jumper but would definitely be classified as nosy and inquisitive....
General responsibilities - keep house clean; bring in the mail/bins; ensure pets are happy :) + More info
