Pocket, the Best Pupper ever
Hi! We are a happy family of 4 living in sunny Calgary, Alberta. Jack works as an accessory installer for automobiles and Irena is an artist. Our daughter Ana is in 7th grade and is a dancer and musician. Pocket is our furry son, born on July 8, 2018 and adopted by us in September of 2018. We are an active family that loves to hike, walk, ski, travel, camp, paddleboard and ride bikes.
Jack and Ana are both from Thailand and Irena is from Croatia. We are planning a big trip this year for Irena to take Jack and Ana to Croatia for their first time to meet her family and see the country. We are so excited but nervous at the same time because we can't take Pocket with us. We are hoping we can find someone to love him and spend the 5 weeks with him in our home.
Our Home & Location
Our clean and cozy little home is in Prestwick in SE Calgary. It's a 1260 square foot home with 2 bedrooms,1.5 bathrooms, an open-concept renovated kitchen with living room and eating area and a super sunny back yard with a big deck, trees, a fire pit, and a gas connected BBQ. Table seating with an umbrella for shade is also set up for your use outside. One bedroom has a King sized bed and one has a single with a pull-out trundle which sleeps 2 singles. Clothes washer and dryer are in the basement. This is a non-smoking home.
Within walking distance of our home are two ponds with paved walking paths around them, shopping centers, grocery stores, coffee shops, banks, a fitness center, yoga studio, restaurants, pubs, and an outdoor water park (no dogs allowed). Within 10 minutes of driving, you have the beautiful Fish Creek Provincial Park, the YMCA and a choice of 2 off-leash parks, one of which is beautiful and alongside the Bow River. Downtown is easily accessed with one bus which takes about 45 minutes and stops close to our home. Downtown has lots of Public Art, 17th avenue shopping district and a lovely river walkway. While we are away, the Calgary Stampede will be in town, which people from all over the world come to Calgary for. You can reach the stampede grounds within 40 minutes by public transit (bus to train and train to grounds). In under an hour you can drive to Bragg Creek, Kananaskis Country and a couple of campgrounds. If you are interested in camping, there are many amazing campgrounds within a 1.5-4 hour drive and we are happy to let you use our tent and camping gear. Pocket hasn't been yet but we are so excited to take him and would love if you took him. Dogs do need to be kept on a leash at our camp grounds....
Our living room has a TV but we don't subscribe to cable. We just found it ate up too much of our time. Our Internet is fast and you are welcome to watch our DVD's.
In under two hours drive, you can reach Banff, Canmore, and the Rocky Mountains which is a stunning area of natural beauty. We are happy to provide more details about things to do and see in and around Calgary! Our home will be most enjoyed if you have access to a vehicle so you can get out into some really outstanding nature and downtown action. You have all the necessities within walking distance but to make the most of it you are best off with a car. + More info
Responsibilities & Pets
Pocket needs to be walked each day, once in the morning and once later in the day. We feed him twice a day, play and train him with some basic tricks. We pet him and love him very much so he would love if you can do some of these things too. We are teaching him not go go on the furniture, which he has pretty much mastered even though he tries to sneak on every now and then. He is still a puppy and currently, we don't leave him alone for more than 3 hours at a time and during those times we have him in his crate. We are trying to keep a pretty consistent schedule for him but still just hashing that out. Rather than being home alone Pocket would love to join you on any adventures to the mountains, hiking and any of Calgary's dog friendly places....
Our trees and garden could be watered every 1-2 days, unless it rains. We have a few small house plants that would need to be watered each week. + More info
