Looking for someone to love our kitties!
We are a married couple of 3 years, Katie and Mary-Ann. We have adopted two fur-kids, PJ and Mack, two adorable black panthers that keep us laughing all the time. We are quiet individuals who enjoy the domestic life, and enjoy sitting back with a warm cup of tea watching our favourite show or movie, as opposed to heading out for a night on the town.
We do not travel a lot, but we do have a trip out of the country planned for February 2019. In the past, PJ was put in a cat kennel and the experience was not great for him. Mack has never been in a kennel. We have used a pet sitter before, for a two night trip, and it worked out way better...as long as we have the right fit (they are very particular about their people)....
We are in our mid-30's and are both professionally employed. Katie works in the communications field at a local post-secondary institute, and Mary-Ann is a professional cook and evening student working towards a web design certificate. + More info
Our Home & Location
Our condo (a rental) is located in the Oliver area of downtown Edmonton, located right in what is known as "The Brewery District". There are lots of grocery stores, restaurants, coffee shops, pubs, and fine dining establishments within walking distance, and we are right along major bus routes to other parts of town. Located just off the popular Jasper Avenue, we are on a quiet, tree-lined street and enjoy peaceful evenings.
Our place is a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom set-up, although our second bedroom is just an office. We have a king sized bed, and a jacuzzi tub in the master. Gas heat and a heated underground parking stall if you have a vehicle. Full sized washer and dryer, huge fridge, dishwasher, etc. We do have a gas fireplace, but prefer not to use it because it gets hot and our cats like to get close to it......
Our suite (including the balcony) is smoke free, cannabis free (bylaws).
It's the perfect location to experience downtown Edmonton, while still enjoying a quiet getaway.
IMPORTANT HEALTH NOTE: Katie is Celiac, and as a result our household must remain as gluten free as possible. We ask our potential guests to understand and respect this, due to the risk of cross contamination. Absolutely no regular bread in our toaster. Other items can be used in the kitchen, but they must be cleaned properly to reduce the possibility of Katie getting sick. Thank you for understanding. + More info
Responsibilities & Pets
The biggest responsibility is loving and caring for our cats. Cleaning the litter(s) regularly, feeding them as per their routine, and making sure they have some companionship while we're away. They are used to having us home.
We will also need someone to check the mail for us and coordinate with our landlord if there are any urgent issues that arise (if we cannot be reached, which is unlikely) and generally just keeping the place tidy....
Our cats are INDOOR ONLY (even though they try to escape through the front door when you leave or come home). They are not a fan of children or loud noises (i.e. loud music, lots of people) and are definitely preferential to women. We are definitely looking for a quieter individual who is okay just spending some quiet time at home with the cats, and allowing them to continue feeling comfortable. + More info
