Pet sitter needed for Cora and Polymer
We are Priya and Sailesh, two young professionals who share a love of pets and let our pets basically run our lives. Priya is a digital marketer and Sailesh works in the intellectual property field of a medical device company. We enjoy lounging on the balcony in summers with our pets and taking our dog out to play at beaches and parks on the weekends.
Recently, after 7 years of being together, Sailesh finally proposed to Priya! We now have the stressful joy of planning our wedding :). We both immigrated to Canada, Sailesh from Hong Kong and Priya from Malaysia, making it a little complicated on the planning side of things. There will be a lot of travel on our end as we head back to Malaysia to plan our wedding with our families, which is why we are looking for a trusted long-term home and pet sitter for our two fur-babies; Cora and Polymer....
A little bit about Polymer: We adopted him from VOCRA in 2014, he came to us as a timid kitten full of energy. He has since grown into an extremely loving cat, accepting all humans as friends and Sailesh and Priya as his minions who bring him food and petting when desired. At night, he makes sure you are never alone by curling up right by your foot. He is currently 5 years old.
A little bit about Cora: We adopted her from a dog rescue in Mexico in November of 2017. She came to us malnourished and extremely frightened of everything around her. Over the past few months, we have introduced her to her new home and she has made a ton of new dog and human friends. She has even made a few cat friends! She is full of energy, loves to play and sincerely enjoys the company of everything around her. She is currently a little over a year old and she is completely home trained. + More info
Our Home & Location
We live in an apartment on Bridgeport road in Richmond, BC. It is a one bedroom home, spacious enough for an individual or a couple. We have a huge balcony/patio with a limited garden area where we walk Polymer from time to time as he enjoys laying in the sun for a while and grazing on some fresh grass. It is a relatively quiet location, but not too far from everything you will ever require. Within a 10 minute walking distance you will find a Tim Hortons, PetSmart, Dollarama, an Indian restaurant, a convenience store and a few fast food places. A little bit further out you will find a Costco. Right outside our apartment building, there is a huge open field and a trail where we often take Cora for her walks and to play fetch. We are also close to Bridgeport trail which is great for long walks.
We can arrange to vacate our parking spot if required and we have a functional bicycle that can be used if desired. A lot of our home is better seen than described which is why we would love for you to come meet us and our fur-babies.
Responsibilities & Pets
For Polymer: He is fed a mix of wet and dry food, which we will demonstrate, twice a day 12 hours apart. He is an indoor cat although he gets walked on leash in our balcony from time to time. He enjoys playing with one of his toys for 15 minutes a day or until he gets bored. His litter gets cleaned out once during the week then replaced at the end of the week with fresh litter. He tends to go where he wants when he wants except for in the bathroom. He chooses to sleep either on his own pet bed in the bedroom but sometimes curls up by your foot on the bed.
For Cora: She is fed grain free lamb/green pea food, which will be stocked, twice a day once in the morning when she wakes up and once in the evening generally a little before her evening walk. It is important to note that she has a slight allergy to chicken - it does not suit her stomach well. She also loves small bits of carrot from time to time in addition to her treats. She gets walked 3-4 times a day, once after her breakfast in the morning, once during the day to play, once after her evening meal and we take her out for a short walk right before bed just to let her pee. While you are home, she generally goes where she wants when she wants except for the bathroom. As she is still a puppy, at times her energy can be too much for Polymer and you simply have to tell her to stop bugging him and she will listen. Polymer is very patient with her and most of the time you will see that he loves playing with Cora. When you do leave the apartment, there is a pet gate between the living room and the bedroom to close. Polymer is able to jump over this gate whereas Cora cannot, just incase he needs a nap. Cora has a couch in the bedroom where she sleeps at night and during the day she naps on the couch when she wants....
The Home: We only ask you treat the apartment like it is your own. There is everything you require to clean the apartment and it is generally low maintenance. Cleaning the apartment according to your own desired cleanliness is all we ask. We have a robo-vac that you can use when you are home - but this is more a toy for the pets than a cleaning tool. There is also a dishwasher in the kitchen and in-suite laundry. The balcony has a barbecue you can use and we ask you keep the grill clean after use. The balcony also has limited gardening area - however we do not maintain this as being city dwellers for most of our lives, neither of us know anything about gardening. There is a shared garbage disposal area for general waste and recycling that is right outside the apartment complex. + More info
