Responsible House and Cat Sitter for 8 days
My Fiancee and I are going on our Christmas vacation in December and we would like a responsible and caring house sitter to look after our house but more so our Bailey and our Oso. We adopted Bailey in January 2017 from the vet office, she is now strictly indoor but was previously a street cat so she's a little shy to loud noises and quick movements but very friendly and LOVES human contact even if that just means sitting next to you watching Netflix. She doesn't like being picked up, but will happily come and sit on your lap especially if you happen to have a blanket. She prefers to let you know when she wants attention rather than be smothered. Oso on the other hand would like nothing more than to be carried everywhere with you and to play all day long. he loves to sleep near you head preferably snuggled into your neck, so you should be okay with that if you sit these two. We are trying to teach him table manners, such as not begging and not walking on the table while we are eating, he is picking it up quickly - he's such a smart little guy.
We need someone who would pay attention to them and make sure they get lots of human time. They like each other and sleep and play together. one of Bailey's favourite past times is cleaning Oso, especially because it's winter they like the extra heat.
Our Home & Location
our 3bdrm 1 bath house is located on whats known as "The Old Experimental Farm" - old farm property where the government funded research into experimenting what would grow in Smithers. This sits just off the highway, a 10 minute drive from downtown Smithers, 20 minute drive to Hudson Bay Mountain.
Smithers offers outstanding outdoor recreational pursuits during all phases of the year. This includes fishing and hunting, backpacking, camping, downhill and cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, golfing, snowmobiling, canoeing and kayaking and many more. Coupled with a lively music scene, Art Gallery, Museum, theatrical performances and an energetic sporting community, Smithers has something for everyone
Responsibilities & Pets
Feeding Bailey three times a day 7am, noon and 6:30. feeding Oso 4 times a day, same as bailey but once more before you go to bed whenever that is (we give bailey a couple treats at the same time as to no make her jealous). Cleaning the litter box every other day, Socializing and playing with them every day, Watering various plants.
They are both very smart and eager to please, no yelling, spanking, scolding, or punishment ever has or will be used with them. We would like to find someone that will treat them like tiny humans. Bailey understands the word 'no' and usually obeys unless it's something particularly enticing like a tin foil ball or salmon. Oso is just a baby and so is still learning, so repetition and patience is essential with him....
We have taught Bailey to sit on command before she eats to wait 10 seconds after sitting before we put her food down, she is very good at it. Oso knows no such thing and meal time is his favourite time of day -
This will probably be the most challenging responsibility of your stay as we are trying to teach him to relax around meals.
Bailey likes to sleep with us under the covers in the winter, she might not right away with new people - but don't be surprised if she asks to snuggle in! As i mentioned Oso also likes to sleep with us, mostly on my pillow which i try to slide him off it as soon as he snuggles in. + More info
