Easy cat care on Salt Spring Island
My wife Betty & I moved to Salt Spring Island from nearby Vancouver 2.5 years ago, and our 16 yo Tuxedo cat needs loving care when we go on holidays.
Our Home & Location
It's a just-rebuilt a cottage that became a bright and open expanded modern house. A "great room" contains entry, LR, dining & kitchen and powder room. Two bedrooms connected by an ensuite bath on main floor, guest room + full bath + large mezzanine upstairs. Our house is on a very private, quiet, sunny south facing 6 acre lot with big spaces, patches of thick forest, multiple raised garden beds, and even a big pond. The decks are mostly finished, with a nice cedar hot tub in the corner. Closest neighbors are perhaps 150m away, not visible from the house. We know most our neighbors and several are good friends; you can reach out to them if you need help. Access to Ganges town takes under 10 mins driving via the best road on the island. Though small, Ganges has everything most people need, including a modern hospital. Salt Spring Island is a magical place, great wooded hills for waking & hiking, full of artists and craftspeople, lots to see, experience and do. It is the largest in a cluster of islands, most of which are accessible by regular scheduled BC Ferries.
Responsibilities & Pets
Kitty needs feeding & litter box cleaned out daily, access in/out as needed (no cat door) and some TLC daily. Ample dry firewood for the wood stove is in a big wood shed. Good house maintenance is expected. We have 3 tenant sheep in a fenced pasture that you're welcome to care for; alternatively, we can ask the close-by owners to take care of them while we are gone.
