Pet sitting in the woods near Mount Work
We are two women who live in the quiet woods of the Highlands just outside Victoria near several provincial and regional parks with great hiking trails. We have two sweet dogs. They are healthy and older and came to us through Boxer Rescue and the Victoria Humane Society. Fortunately for us, their previous owners trained them well.
Our house is nestled in the woods and is very dark at night and mostly very quiet. This can be unnerving for some people. There is no public transit so you would need a car. We may be able to loan you our car if we don't need it for our trip....
We are on a well and septic system and we are very careful about our water usage. Our roof garden and deck planters are on timed watering systems. We are committed to reducing our environmental footprint. We recycle, compost and digest (in a digester) and produce very little garbage.
Mature experienced house sitters will be able to manage. Non-smokers only please. + More info
Our Home & Location
Our house is situated on 12 acres backing onto the Cal Revelle Nature Sanctuary. We are close to Gowlland Tod, Mt Work and Goldstream Park. We have access to a private lake.
The road to our house is narrow and windy with a speed limit of 25km/h. There are times during the day when traffic volume is high and many vehicles drive too fast for road conditions but the rest of the time, travelling the road is fine.
Responsibilities & Pets
The dogs are used to having someone around so it would be nice if the sitter was around a lot but they are also fie left on their own if you need to go out for the day. They are used to at least two long walks a day. One walk in the morning and one later in the day. The get fed twice a day with some snacks when they come back from their walks.
We have planters on our deck and a vegetable garden on the roof. The roof and most of the deck planters are on micro-irrigation controlled by a timer. Watering is easy. There are also some pots that need to be hand watered as there are not on micro irrigation.
