Buckhorn Lake Country Living Near Peterborough
Our dogs are the center of our lives, but we also love to travel. Mark works full time for the Ontario government and Debbie's work is somewhat seasonal in nature as she runs a fly in fishing lodge in northern Ontario. Winter for us is the best time to travel and we have enjoyed trips to the US and Europe over the past few years.
Our Home & Location
Our home is located on a quiet bay of Buckhorn Lake, one of the jewels of the Kawartha Lakes system. A short drive to the village of Ennismore, 10 minutes to the town of Bridgenorth and 25 minutes to the city of Peterborough. In winter (the time for this listing) things to do include skating, cross country skiing at Kawartha Nordic (about a 45 minute drive) or on the lake if you have your own equipment, visiting Peterborough's museums and attractions including fine dining and shopping.
As far as the home goes, it's a three bedroom, two bathroom bungalow with a walk-out basement. You will have access to the entire house for your stay. There's high speed internet/wifi, satellite TV with lots of channels (full sports package), Apple TV (access to Netflix and Crave). The basement has a second TV and sitting area along with a treadmill and yoga mats if you are so inclined. There's lots of parking, and there's an electric start snow-blower if needed.
Responsibilities & Pets
The back yard is fenced and while the dogs love going for walks it's totally unnecessary as they do great entertaining and exercising themselves in the back yard. The main responsibilities are being home at night to keep the dogs company, feeding the dogs twice a day, collecting eggs from the coop once daily, checking the water and feed levels for the chickens (water might need to be checked daily and feed once weekly). If you feel like taking the dogs for a walk the best bet is driving them to our local park where you can take them all off leash but that will be more for your own pleasure than the dogs needs.
Our three dogs are a wonderfully cohesive pack. Apollo, a wolfhound-retriever cross, is the respected elder statesman. He has slowed down a lot but still really enjoys life and the company of people....
Max, the black golden doodle, is a fun loving energetic dog with a fantastic personality. He absolutely loves to play fetch in the back yard.
Finn, the standard poodle, is the youngest of the pack and it shows :) He has boundless energy and is the most cuddly of the three. He will try to have you pet him 24/7 if you are so inclined. + More info
