Quiet country retreat only minutes to town
We are heading to Australia for Christmas with my cousins so this is a big trip for us. And the timing doesn't work for our regular house sitter. We usually travel 3-4 times a year so the pets are quite used to having other people around.
Our Home & Location
Our home is an old farm house on 13 acres, set back from a gravel road. If there is snow you can cross country ski or snow shoe, or just settle down in front of the wood fireplace. We are a five minute drive to the quaint town of Erin, which has everything you might need plus some great shopping. 30 minutes to larger centers like Guelph or Brampton, and an hour into the city of Toronto.
Responsibilities & Pets
The house is straightforward to look after. If it snows we have a plow person who will come, but you might need to shovel the walkways. The dogs are older now, so a few short walks or a longer walk with pee breaks throughout the day is all they need. They enjoy attention now and then but are quite happy to just be in the same room as you. The cat is indoor/outdoor but mostly indoor in the winter, and is quite affectionate in her cat way. The ducks and chickens need to be let out in the morning, given their food and fresh water. Eggs need to be picked up (hopefully you like eggs, they are yummy!). They will go back in their coop at dusk, and then they just need the doors closed for them. A little chat is always appreciated though!
