Old Boy Needs Love While Mom & Dad Are Away
My husband, Peter and I are retired and moved to St. Catharines about a year and a half ago (August 2017). My husband is disabled as a result of a stroke he suffered in 2003. I am his full-time caregiver. Peter is a published author and is currently working on his second book. After owning a condo in Florida for 7 years, we recently sold it in order to be able to travel, which is why we need a Trusted Housesitter to stay with our Cooper. Cooper will be 15 years old at the end of January and is starting to show his age. He has hip problems and has slowed down considerably in the past year. We take him for acupuncture treatments once a week to help ease his pain and stiffness. He is also on medication for pain and for his under-active thyroid.
Our Home & Location
Our home is a 1600 sq. ft. 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom apartment in a highrise building in North St. Catharines. We have an outdoor pool in the summer and a fitness room year-round. While staying in our home, you will have access to our underground parking spot.
We are 5 minutes from the 406 and 10 minutes from the QEW....
While you're here, you can take advantage of all the Niagara Region has to offer: we are located only 15 minutes from the Canada/US border, in case you want to do a bit of cross-border shopping; Casino Niagara (in Niagara Falls) is only 15 minutes from our door; the Shaw Festival Theatre in Niagara-on-the-Lake is open from April 6 to December 22, 2019 and is less than 20 minutes away; the Butterfly Conservatory in Niagara Falls is not to be missed (open year-round) and is located just 15 minutes from our home; in addition, Niagara Falls, Niagara-on-the-Lake (for some superb shopping and extraordinary dining), the Welland Canal for long walks or bike tours along the water's edge and, of course, the many wineries in the area, some of the best of which are located right here in St. Catharines! All in all, we live in a vibrant, exciting area that has activities for everyone! + More info
Responsibilities & Pets
As mentioned in the introduction, Cooper gets thyroid medication twice a day plus Gabapentin for arthritis pain every 8 hours. He also gets Metacam in his food at breakfast. At the moment, we take him for acupuncture treatments at the Niagara Canine Conditioning Centre, which is 5 minutes by car from our home.
