Dog&House Sitter 28 Dec-6 January in Toronto
Our home is in a quiet neighbourhood in central Toronto, very close to Dufferin metro station. Looking for one person or a couple to care for Chico the black lab.
Our Home & Location
We live in a 1+ bedroom (second bedroom is open and has been converted to art studio/office) on the second and third floors of a house built in 1908. On the second floor, there is the bathroom (small!), kitchen, studio/office, living room and small office off living room. The third floor has a large bedroom with sloped roof, king sized bed, and deck off the bedroom.
The main floor/basement is occupied by our tenants, a very nice couple....
We are 5 minutes from the subway and 25 minutes to pretty much anywhere in downtown Toronto. The neighbourhood has lots of small shops, cafes and restaurants and a great library. There is also an excellent park 1 minute away with a weekly farmers' market, skating rinks, playground, and Dufferin Mall is a 5 minute walk away, with large supermarket, Walmart, the Gap, H&M, etc. + More info
Responsibilities & Pets
The only responsibility would be looking after our 10 year old black lab, Chico. He's extremely handsome, very loving and loveable, and an all-around fantastic dog.
Chico still has a lot of energy and loves his walks and hanging out with people, but note that he also has arthritis. Because we live on the second and third floor of a house and he can't do stairs anymore, we have a stairlift to get him up and down the stairs in our house. This has saved our backs, but anyone who looks after him needs to be strong enough to lift his hind end onto the lift -- he's 30 kg (about 70 pounds). He is very used to riding on the lift so he's cooperative and used to the trip....
Other than getting Chico on and off the stairlift, his needs are pretty simple. He gets two leash walks a day for about 15 minutes each time. He needs to go outside to do his business an additional 2-3 times during the day/evening. We will also have our dog walker coming in for a mid-day walk on weekdays. He is on medication, but it goes into his food and he happily eats it -- he happily eats everything:) Lastly, Chico really loves getting pets, rubs, and love:)) + More info
