Experience the Beauty of Modern China in the Hills of Hangzhou! Great Dog, Great City!
While boarding options are available in China, our experiences have not always been positive. Tiger is a rescue dog who was saved from the meat markets of southern china. He is calm and well behaved within his home environment, but sometimes demonstrates anxiety in new situations with new people. He spent a year of his life living in a cage in a clinic after being rescued, so any opportunity to allow him some normalcy while we travel is our ultimate goal. We also have a beautiful home and are hopeful that we can allow others the opportunity to experience and enjoy all that Hangzhou has to offer!
(Please note that visitors outside of China must apply for a Chinese visa in order to travel here. It is an easy process, but does take several weeks. We would like to secure someone early enough in advance that this is not a problem. ) :)
Our Home & Location
Our home is a beautiful 3 bedroom apartment with two levels. It is cozy, quaint, has beautiful views of the river and the mountains, and is the perfect place for a single, couple, or family to make their own during our time away. There are many different balconies and side spaces that are fun to retreat and explore. Have coffee off the balcony of the master bedroom in the early mornings and nestle in with a good book on the interior bottom floor balcony in the evenings.
The apartment is located within a gated and secure complex in a quiet, beautiful, and quaint part of Hangzhou. Surrounding streets are filled with fruit vendors (selling the most delicious fruit in the world, they will peel and cut your purchases in front of you! It has ruined buying pineapple from the store for us!), noodle and dumpling shops, and many convenience stores....
Hangzhou is one of the most beautiful cities in China (Marco Polo called it "Heaven on Earth" upon his discovery of it!) and is conveniently located within an hour by bullet train to the bustling metropolis of Shanghai. If you enjoy cycling or hiking, there are many great opportunities to explore the tea fields and the hills of hangzhou. The Chinese are kind and welcoming to foreigners here and it is an incredibly safe place to explore to your heart's content!
Apartment Amenities: On the bottom level there is a kitchen, living room, office, bathroom and two balconies (one exterior, one interior). The kitchen includes a stove, a microwave, a blender, a coffee maker, a tea kettle, and a toaster oven. There is no stove, but we've cooked full dinners in the oven for the past year without a problem!
On the top level are three bedrooms, a large walk in closet, and a large laundry room. There is a washer, but we hang dry our clothes. An ayi (housekeeper) comes once a week and will do your laundry. :)
There is a brand new Giant bicycle and large office desktop available for your use. + More info
Responsibilities & Pets
The primary responsibility in house sitting will be caring for the every day needs of our dog Tiger. This includes feeding him twice a day, going for walks along the river, playing with him, and continuing some basic commands that he is in the process of learning. He is a great (and easy) dog! Very light plant watering would also be appreciated. A house keeper will come one day a week, so light cleaning is appreciated but not necessary.
