Summer in sunny Cyprus
I am a retired teacher now living in the Paphos region of Cyprus. I am originally from Northern Ireland where I taught Art and drama fro 16 years before becoming a head teacher. My dog was a rescue dog having been abandoned at 6 weeks old. She is now 13 and is delightful. During the summer months I like to return to the UK to visit family and friends.
Our Home & Location
My house is in the village of Kallepeia in the foothills of the Troodos mountains. It is a quiet village with a coffee shop and taverna where you can get the best Cypriot food in the area. It is a small village surrounded by fields of almonds and grapes with stunning views of the mountains. You can drive to the centre of Paphos in 15 minutes or to the beach in 20, or north to the harbour at Latchi in 25 minutes. The house is a traditional stone house with an open plan living space and one bedroom upstairs. It has an easy maintenance courtyard garden and is in a secluded and quiet area - 2 minutes walk tot he taverna or coffee shop. It is a fantastic place to get a sense of the real Cyrpus away from the tourist areas - but also offers easy access to restaurants, bars and beaches. The house does not have a swimming pool. The bedroom has an air conditioner. The rest of the house is cool and comfortable without.
Responsibilities & Pets
Millie is easy to care for. She likes a short walk in the morning and the evening but as she is now an old lady will sleep for much of the day. She is fed a little in the morning and her main meal at 6.00 pm. She is used to being at home on her own but also is happy to go out. She loves the car and will sit quietly under your chair in a bar or taverna - although she has been known to lick the waiters ankles.
