We are a retired couple with two cats and we wish to visit with our family and take a holiday but need our cats cared for whilst we are away. Having used Trusted Housesitters we would like to use them again.
My husband is a retired Engineer and has worked overseas and we have lived in a number of countries including, Iraq, Libya, Hong Kong, Australia, Canada, Gabon, U.K, UAE and Brazil.
Our Home & Location
Our home consists of a house and a new self contained apartment in the countryside and where a car is essential due to lack of public transport except for rail and that is quite a distance from us. The apartment
for the sitters use, is fully equiped with all amenities including a heat pump and a fully fitted large kitchen diner, one single and one double bedroom with a shower and toilet facilities off the passage way ....
The location is in the countryside where we are well situated for the Bearn and Basque regions on the route of St Jacques de Compostella . Historically the site is the outpost of the monks of the order of the Templars and connected to Sorde l'Abbaye. It was the crossing point for the pilgrims going to Saintiago on the Gave de Pau , the river that borders our house. It is an attractive position, quiet in a large outdoor area filled with trees and shrubs.
We are fortunate to be half an hour from the Atlantic coast with its beautiful beaches an hour from Spain and the wonderful city of San Sebastian and in an area with lots of bastides and picturesque towns and villages. It is also a region with an immense range of wonderful restaurants quite a number of Michelin stared ones as well as having inexpensive restaurants and where the food is delightful. + More info
Responsibilities & Pets
The cats need feeding three times a day but when we go out we leave food for them and they like brushing down from time to time. They are used to coming in and out as they have cat flaps. They were found as kittens on the side of the road. Plants will need watering and the terraces might need sweeping at this time of year because of the leaves.
