Northern Dordogne countryside - Mid September to May in a small village. Perfect if self sufficient.
After 11 years here running Bed&Breakfast rooms in the adjoining 19th century Chateau de Villars and renting two self catering houses, we will be away from October 2018 to May 2019. Our cats, sheep and chickens will be in residence. This is a first time looking for a housesitter and we hope to meet a couple who would like to experience the quiet French life in the countryside. Perfect for a couple who enjoy a quiet life and are self sufficient. Villars is a small village!
Our Home & Location
The house sitters will be based in the studio apartment in the Carriage House, which looks out on Chateau de Villars. The studio opens onto a 'boot room' and laundry in one direction, and onto a TV/sitting room in the other direction, which in turn opens onto a garden room with a wood burner. Wi-fi, TV, desk top computer. A car can probably be made available, To be discussed. There are lovely other villages around - check out Brantome, St Jean de Cole. Perigueux the capital of the Dordogne is 40 minutes away. Just ask me for extra photos! the site does not allow me to post a full complement of photos.
Responsibilities & Pets
Feeding and caring for the cats when they visit, particularly at night in winter. Visiting the sheep and chickens each morning, and giving feed and water. Closing the chickens in at night. Checking the main Chateau (which will be closed up for winter) and the grounds during the winter months. Checking the answering machine and the post, sending on as necessary. Housesitters should have a basic knowledge of French and some prior experience of France. And the necessary passports or visas to be in France and in Schengen for the period of time. No pets please.
