French Farmhouse in Green Burgundy, with Friendly Pets
We are a French-English family of four, plus our gorgeous pets; two horses, a dog, three cats and four chickens. We travel fairly frequently back to the UK and need reliable, kind and respectful help for our lovely pets and home.
A great base from which to discover this green and leafy, rolling landscape, the historic sites, vineyards and gastronomic markets and restaurants. You'll need a car, however.
Our Home & Location
18th Century converted stone fermette (small farmhouse), located up high on a hillside, overlooking the valley. Very private, surrounded by its 12 acres of pasture and woodland. Ideal for walkers, mountain biking, or just countryside lovers.
Our home has four double bedrooms and two bathrooms, which you would be welcome to use. Children are welcome (we have two small children), but as it is an old building and the land has been used for agricultural purposes for many centuries, you take responsibility for their safety and welfare at all times....
The internet is good enough to stream Netflix and basic Skype calls.
The house is heated entirely by woodstove, which we would require you to use sensibly and safely. + More info
Responsibilities & Pets
The dog, cats, chickens and horses have free rein of the entire (fenced) 12 acres. The dog sleeps inside at night and the cats sleep inside during the day only.
The horses will require feeding and hay once a day in the mornings during winter (other seasons tba) and generally giving the once over at least once a day....
The dog and cats require feeding in the mornings. The chickens require feeding in the morning out of their run and closing back into their run at dusk.
The dog will love to go out with you (on foot, on bike, in the car and on a lead in town) as much as you wish to. She is very well trained and sensitive to the voice and body language.
Help to cut back trees, hedges, bracken, brambles (with equipment) a real plus in the spring time/ summer months.
We require all housesitters to clean/ wash up for and after themselves. + More info
