Sweet dog and home in Cordes-sur-Ciel, France
We are an American couple from California who recently bought a charming little house in one of the prettiest villages in France, Cordes-sur-Ciel, a medieval bastide now an artists' colony, on a hill in southwest France. We'd already planned several trips when we unexpectedly inherited a wonderful little dog.
Cordes, built in the 1200's, is stunningly beautiful. There is so much to see right in the village - four museums, excellent restaurants, gardens, history walks, and more - that a car isn't necessary, though the surrounding area is full of fascinating day trips, too....
The house has big south-facing windows, and is comfortably cozy with a breathtaking view from the bedroom window. The dog is as sweet as they come. We hope you'll like it there as much as we do! + More info
Our Home & Location
Our home has a spacious master bedroom with a double bed, and a smaller second bedroom with a single bed. There is a full bathroom upstairs and a half bath downstairs, a washing machine and indoor lines for drying. There's no garden, through we have some potted plants.
It's a very easy walk to the lower village, where you'll find everything you need: several grocery stores, excellent bakeries and a butcher, a pharmacy, doctors and dentists, and so on. The most popular cafe in the village is right at the bottom of our street. The medieval part of the village is right above us, a steep but very worthwhile walk. There are many galleries and fine restaurants, including an excellent vegetarian one, Sur les Pavées. Don't miss the museum of contemporary art, the chocolate museum, or the history museum....
Mocha likes nothing better than a long walk. Well, maybe a belly rub.
The cathedral town of Albi is twenty minutes away by car or thirty by bus. + More info
Responsibilities & Pets
It's Mocha, the dog, who needs the sitting, not the house, which would do fine on its own. We adopted her very recently when her human died suddenly, but she is bonding with us very nicely at this point. She likes to go on lots of walks, is great on the leash and likes to ride in the car. Because she's been with us such a short time, we haven't let her off the leash outdoors. She likes canned food or table food better than kibble and will snub food if it isn't up to her standards. Likes to sleep on beds. Great personality.
