Beautiful house in South West France and a mix of wonderfull animals to cuddle great gardens and Pool .
A couple or a very capable single man , PLEASE only experienced people apply who love and have a good background of animals (see list ) and gardening ,who will enjoy experiencing the French culture and are prepared work in the garden and with the animals ,2 horses ,2 donkeys ,10 retired sheep ,various poultry ,3 cats and a very friendly dog .Common sense is a must and love of animals and gardening and good experience especially with animals . The garden is simple as there is not a great deal to do in winter there are pots that will need watering about once a week that are overwintered inside .
We have 2 pools that will need to be kept leaf free . The rest is the animals which I will go into below but the duties should take no more than a couple of hours a day the rest of the time you can enjoy yourself ....
You need to be able to drive an old tractor to put bales of hay for the Sheep , donkeys and horses and straw in the stables and to collect dung from the field . + More info
Our Home & Location
We are in the Tarn nr Albi 4 minutes from Monesties , 15 mins from Cordes sur Ciel , 10 mins from Carmaux but in a rural location so you have the best of both worlds plenty of culture ,sport , beautiful countryside and a peaceful rural setting. You have your own large self contained 2 bedroom apartment in the SW wing of the farm but while we are away you will use the large farm kitchen/sitting which accessed through the communicating door and is where the cats and dog love to be there is also fast broadband and satellite television The property is an ancient Bastide farm with a courtyard , gardens ,park and fields .
There is a car available if you need one and people around to help and advise if needed there are also a couple of bikes to use ....
We have 2 long let properties that are rent by our tenants as holiday homes that in general look after themselves when they are there , not very often in the winter. + More info
Responsibilities & Pets
You will be looking after the 2 pools which are for our 2 long let houses they are rented long term by our tenants as holiday homes so usually empty in the winter so the pools just need to be kept leaf free as the are shut down till May , if the tenants are not in residence just a check round the house once a week or if there is a storm or power cut . The animals ,the poultry needs feeding twice a day ,collect the eggs (which you can eat ) and locking up at night , the horses and donkeys make sure they have a full trough there is a tap and a bale of hay give carrots and talking ,brushing and stroking , the sheep all retired old ladies who mow the grass they will need the water topped up hay a bale will last 2/3 weeks and feed once a day , cats get fed twice a day and cuddled in the evening on the sofa .The garden ,veg garden there is not much to do in the winter , pick whatever vegetables are growing which you can eat and blanch and freeze any surplus .No strimming or mowing needed . We have a very detailed list of how to care for all our animals and plants , mainly watering also contact numbers for vets plumbers electricians etc . We are very organized. If you love the countryside and animals this is for you but WE DO NEED EXPERIENCED SITTERS .
Timetable :This is a list of daily chores : When its light feed the cats and let out the chickens and feed them , let out the geese and check their water .Check the pools for leaves etc do any necessary watering . Check the water and hay for the sheep and donkeys & horses give carrots and stroke and sometime run a brush over them and feed the sheep. 5pm feed the cats and do the cat litter make sure they have plenty of water. Feed the poultry at about 3.30/4pm , at dusk put the poultry away . Take Monty out for a walk and or with his ball chucker .
