pet/house-sitter(s) needed for 2 dogs & 2 cats // Lot-Dordogne // beautiful gite // ca. 15 Sept.-15 Dec. 2018
Our home is a 17th-century farmhouse; the sitter(s) would stay in the adjacent renovated gîte, with splendid views and 5000 m2 of greenery. The property is quite isolated; ideally, sitter(s) should speak French so as to be able to handle any problems, and have their own car. The dogs are very loveable, but also very energetic ; they thrive on attention and TLC. The cats are quite independent, as they have each other (and come and go through a catflap), but they do like to be petted now and then.
Our Home & Location
Housesitters would stay in our lovely holiday rental property, which has 2 bedrooms on the upper floor and 2 bathrooms, one on each floor. Living room w/ open, fully equipped kitchen has Sky and French satellite TV, WiFi access, plenty of DVDs, books and games. Central heating throughout.
Responsibilities & Pets
This assignment calls for people who are animal lovers, highly responsible, resourceful, energetic and happy to do dogwalking in a beautiful rustic area. We prefer mature couples who are willing and able to manage strong dogs. Sitters need to feed the dogs and walk them, preferably twice a day, and feed the cats twice a day, keeping their litterboxes clean. Pick up our mail, answer the phone, deal with any emergencies that may arise (water, heating, electricity, etc.), so a working knowledge of French is important. Some garden work (weeding/pruning) would be nice, but is not essential. Exact dates subject to discussion; stay can be extended through April 2019 for the right sitters.
