Couple Required 4 Cats, 3 Llamas in The Aveyron France For June 12th to June 28th 2019 (Vegan or Vegetarian Please)
We are an English couple in our early to mid 60's. We have lived in France since 2004 and we run a business over here selling antiques and collectibles worldwide.
We are looking for a mature responsible vegan or vegetarian couple (couples only please or any sex) to house sit for us and to look after our 4 adorable cats and 3 llamas. If you are not vegan or vegetarian but would be prepared to make a promise to forgo cooking meat or fish in our home, then that would be okay. However, it is very important to me and I would need a real promise!...
The cats are free to come and go as they please through their cat flat but do require cuddles on demand and to be fed also. The llamas require checking twice a day (or more if you wish) and their water to be topped up when low and their field to be cleaned on occasion, which is an easy process as they conveniently use the same spot for their toilet.
Sorry we cannot accept children.
The primary reason for the house sit is the animals, they are vitally important to us and their care and well being is the motivation here. So we are looking for people that love animals and specifically cats!
Our house is detached with beautiful views and it is clean and comfortable. It is lovely and warm in winter with the underfloor heating, which is on 24/7 by way of an ecological heat pump. There are also two wood burners when required and large stocks of wood. Plus there is always hot water on tap. + More info
Our Home & Location
We live in the beautiful 100 valley area of the Segéla Aveyron, close to the borders of the Tarn Department. We are roughly equal distance from Villefranche de Rouergue, Rodez and Albi. There is so much to see and do around here. Within a half an hour there are 4 of the most beautiful villages in France: Najac, Sauveterre de Rouergue, Belcastel and Monesties.
Whichever direction you travel, beauty abounds. It is roughly one hour and a quarter to the Millau viaduct, St. Antonin Noble Val, the Aubrac and its ski slopes, a little further to the slopes in the Cantal. Albi is a beautiful city and about 40 minutes, Toulouse an hour and a half and Carcassonne about 2 hours 20mins. Rodez and Villefranche de Rouergue are about 40 minutes away....
If you love peace and quiet and the countryside, then our house will suit you. It has far reaching beautiful views and no one in front of it, (bar for the llamas).
Our house is a 4 bedroomed detached, converted stone barn with double garage. We have Wi-Fi and a wide screen television with free to air English channels amongst others. There is underfloor heating and we have a wood burner.
A car is an absolute MUST here as the hamlet is fairly remote, depending on which direction you go, it is approximately 10 kilometres to Naucelle and 15 to Rieupeyroux. It could be arranged to loan our car but you would need to have been driving for more than 5 years. If we loaned the car, we would need a lift to Toulouse airport at an ungodly hour and collecting from the airport on our return. + More info
Responsibilities & Pets
We would want sitters to be there for our 4 cats and 3 llamas. The cats just need to follow their normal routine, there is a cat flap. They need love and cuddles on demand! The llamas are easy to look after, just check them a couple of times a day and refresh their water and clean their field on occasion. They are kind enough to use regular areas of the field for toilet use, so it does not involve the complete field. In cold weather,(frost and snow) it maybe be necessary to give them hay nets.
It is also very important that our home is kept clean and tidy, so neat freaks are very welcome....
It would help if you could speak basic French in case you need to contact the vets but if not, we will have friends on standby to help out if necessary. + More info
