Easy house-sit in the stunning South of France village of Biot (sea views)
My husband and I live in the South of France, in the beautiful Medieval village of Biot. We are English, but came to this part of the world nearly 10 years ago, with a view to staying for 6 months, and needless to say, we fell in love with the area and never went back to the UK!
We rescued Misty (the cat) nearly 5 years ago. Mali (the pup) is the latest addition, also a rescue (from Bulgaria). We have just bought our first home together, a stone's throw from the gorgeous village of Biot.
We travel a fair amount for work, and in these instances both animals would need looking after. When it is possible to take Mali with us, we do so, so in this case so it would just be Misty who would need sitting....
Obviously I'm biased, but both animals are just the cutest, most beautiful fur babies anyone could wish for! + More info
Our Home & Location
We have just bought our first house, and it is in a beautiful location, 3 minutes walk to the gorgeous village of Biot, and 5 minutes on foot to the Brague river, which offers beautiful walking and some lovely swimming spots - perfect to cool down in the South of France summer!
Biot is a charming Medieval French village, with a labyrinth of cobbled streets, tradtional French houses and quaint squares. There is a good selection of restaurants, bars and shops. We are a 7 minute drive to the beach, 20 minutes to the airport, close to Antibes, Valbonne, Nice, Cannes etc....
Your accommodation would be in our spare room, which looks out onto the garden. The garden is a good size, and we have a large outdoor dining table as well as comfortable outdoor sofas. On the front of the house is a lovely terrace with a view out over the valley and the sea - the perfect place to sit and have sundowners.
As we have only fairly recently moved in, you'll have to excuse the fairly questionable 1970s wall paper in some of the rooms, but the house is cool, light and perfectly positioned. If you like cooking, my kitchen is very well equipped. We have high speed wifi, and all the English TV channels (including Sky). We also have Sonos speakers with a Spotify connection throughout the house, meaning that you can use your phone to choose and control music in different rooms. Please do make use of the Weber BBQ. Bath towels provided.
At the moment, we cannot offer use of a car (although we will be able to do so soon), but there is a bus route from just down the road that takes you to either Antibes or Valbonne, and also to the beach. All village amenities and shops are withing walking distance though.
Driving distances: Nearest beach - 7 mins; Train station - 7 mins; Ski slopes - 1.5 hours; Antibes - 10 mins; Valbonne - 10 mins; Monaco - 45 mins; Cannes - 20 mins; Nice - 25 mins; Airport - 20 mins; Italy - 55 mins; Grasse - 25 mins. + More info
Responsibilities & Pets
Misty (the cat) is the pet who would always be here. She is super-sweet, and so soft, but quite shy at first (however she is very quick to spot 'an animal person'!). She has been with us for nearly 5 years after we found her abandoned in a car bonnet when she was just 3 weeks old!
She has a phobia of the cat flap, however loves to be outside. So whilst she loves to go out for the whole day and chase lizards in the garden, we would prefer to get her in at night (and as she doesn't use the catflap, this means you have to let her in through the back door). Apart from that, she could not be easier. She sleeps on our bed, and will do so when you are staying. However, if you do want her to sleep on your bed in the spare room, you're more than welcome! She isn't a wriggler- she just curls up at the end of the bed until the morning when she comes for a cuddle.
Mali (the rescue pup) will come with us when we travel when possible, but there will be times when she would need looking after too. She is a Jack Russell cross (probably with dachshund and maybe something else) and is the friendliest little pup you will ever meet. Loves all people, children and dogs!!! It is very handy as at the end of our road, there are steps down to the river, so a good dog walk is right on the doorstep!...
We would ask that our flower pots are watered (there's only about 8 of them) every evening, and that the shutters are closed when you go out, but apart from that, there is nothing to do! Help yourself to my huge selection of herbs, sauces etc. We love to cook and enjoy food in the garden or on the terrace! + More info
