House sitting couple needed for idyllic chalet in French Alps
Le Petit Bornand is a small French alpine village on the road from Geneva towards the ski resorts of the Aravis mountains. Our old farmhouse is perched off a quiet road above the river valley with fabulous views in peaceful surroundings. A car is essential.
Our Home & Location
We are a semi-retired non-smoking British couple. We live on a hillside above our village, surrounded by woodland and our two small fields. Our chalet has three bedrooms (one with en suite) as well as a garage and small guest mazot. We have no near neighbours. The attractive cities of Geneva and Annecy are 45 minutes drive away. The ski resorts of Le Grand Bornand and La Clusaz are 15 and 20 minutes drive. We are surrounded by fantastic mountain walks. Extensive mountain and road biking is also on our doorstep (Tour de France routes nearby).
Responsibilities & Pets
We need a non-smoking couple to look after our friendly Labrador (he requires a walk from the house twice a day) and a lazy neutered male cat.
We have a couple of chickens in their own fenced area, kept for their eggs. They require letting out/ putting away, feeding and cleaning of their house each day....
Except in winter, the tubs and vegetable plot around chalet need watering (in dry conditions). The grass around the house needs mowing and strimming. In the summer things grow fast in our hillside garden, therefore previous grass cutting experience is important.
Because of the slightly isolated nature of this house sit we will only consider applications from couples with their own transport, in winter this means a 4x4 or winter tyre and snow chain equipped car.
We strongly believe that good communication is vital for a successful house sit. Therefore we encourage you to arrive in good time before we leave so that we can have a successful "handover". We also provide an extensive handbook concerning the house and animals, but please do contact us if there is anything you are unsure of.
We look forward to hearing from you if you would like to spend some time in the Aravis mountains. + More info
