Sitters wanted to care for our furry kids and home!
Hi there! My name is Maren and my husband Trevor and I moved back to Germany in December 2016. Prior to that, we lived in Manhattan, Kansas in the US for over three years. We have quite the furry family consisting of four dogs and seven cats. We live in a small and picturesque town called Ohmden. Our little (big) family will only be here until December of 2019 before we make our way back to the US. In the meantime, we'd very much like to take advantage of Europe and get some traveling in.
Our Home & Location
The beautiful small town of Ohmden is located in the "Schwäbische Alb" region of Baden-Württemberg. It is known for its wonderful walking and hiking trails, orchards and castles. Nearby is the castle ruin of "Teck," which you can get to by a longer and more elaborate hike, if you're into that (it does give you beautiful views and there's a restaurant up top!). Other than that, there are many beautiful walking trails, forests and towns nearby to explore. One town is "Kirchheim unter Teck" which boasts with a historic city center where you can find old and traditional timber framed homes (Deutsche Fachwerkstraße). This style of building homes is very typical for this area of Germany. Furthermore, Kirchheim offers different entertainment and many great restaurants ranging from Italian cuisine to local, traditional foods such as Swabian "Maultaschen." If you're up for a bit of a drive, Stuttgart has many attractions including the Schlossplatz and its natural hot springs.
Responsibilities & Pets
I've created a detailed welcome guide with info about each pet and our home, but these are the main responsibilities: The dogs and cats are fed morning and night, and the cats get a snack in the evening before bedtime; The dogs always eat in their kennels and go outside after (Akiko and Jackson first, then Koda and Trixie separately afterwards); The cat litter boxes are scooped in the morning and at night & dog poop is taken off the lawn once a day or every other day; It's not necessary to walk the dogs as we have a large yard for them to run around in, but you can walk them if you like (specifics about what to do regarding dog-walking are in the guide); As far as home care goes, please just take the trash out when needed, do a vacuum once in a while, and pick up loose cat litter & fur.
Other than that, there're beautiful surroundings for you to explore here and you can definitely take some time to yourself/yourselves during the day to enjoy your stay! We are an easy-going family and would like you to feel right at home here in our 'neck of the woods.'...
Having four dogs of various ages and backgrounds in the home can be challenging, but they're all awesome in their unique ways. They're all extremely loving and we guarantee you will fall in love with them! As for the cats, they all have their own individual characters, but they really enjoy evening couch/TV-time cuddles.
If you're an enthusiastic, kind, pet-experienced individual or couple, message us!
We look forward to hearing from you :) + More info
