Pet sitter required for 3 dogs, 2 horses and a cat on beautiful farm
We are a couple who live on a beautiful farm in West Waterford. Attached to the farm there is a separate lovely country cottage. We are looking for a long-term pet-sitting arrangement where someone would live for free in the cottage in exchange for caring for our animals. We travel occasionally and both have demanding jobs, so it is a stretch for us to care for the animals as well as work and travel. The right person would take on the role of a caretaker and would be responsible for exercising the horses, feeding and mucking out (during the winter), walking the dogs and feeding them as well as our mainly outdoor cat. It is important that the applicant be a reasonably competent rider who would enjoy riding the horses (Irish drafts) in our nearby forest or even taking the horses to the beach. We live in a spectacular area and the dogs (two Retrievers, one Jack Russell mix) enjoy off leash walks on our country roads, on the beach or in the forest. It would be essential that you like both dogs and horses and feel comfortable handling both. In addition, we would ask that you maintain our pretty cottage to the standard that it is given to you and also keep the garden around the cottage as beautiful as it is now.
Our Home & Location
The farm is in a beautiful location near the Blackwater River surrounded by 40 acres of land. The closest shop is 5 minutes away and there are two large towns 20 minutes away. Cork and Waterford are each an hour from where we live.
The cottage is the original farmhouse. It is separated from our home by a paddock and a hedge for privacy. The cottage has been modernised with a new kitchen and bathroom but maintains its original charm with an old fireplace. It has its own garden.
Responsibilities & Pets
Feeding the dogs and walking them. Bringing the horses in and out of their stables, (during the winter/bad weather) feeding the horses, and mucking out. Riding the horses to exercise them. Feeding outdoor cat. Maintaining home and garden. Occasionally giving a hand around the farm. We also have an extra stable so are able to offer free livery if you have your own horse.
