Caring sitter wanted for family of cats in the "navel" of Ireland
Hi! We are The Smith's. Myself: Bridget, my husband Joe and his mother Sarah.
We are new to opening our home to house/pet sitters so we are both nervous and excited!!...
We are not party animals anymore so tend not to do the whole pub thing. We prefer staying home watching TV and cuddling/playing with our mad lot! Our house is not a mansion but it's home. We don't go mad for perfection and it's not always the tidiest but we manage. If you expect a clinical clean place then maybe it won't suit you.
Our motley crew consist of rescue cats and kittens. We got Leia (a Tortie) and Vader (black) in 2017 they were shy but they live lap cuddles, ear rubs and lately, sleeping in the wardrobe. Next we have Angelica (semi feral) she is getting more and more used to inside life since having her kittens in May this year, she doesn't like sudden movement or touching. Her kittens are: Smokey, Bandit and Minnie. All are friendly lovable fluff balls full of mischief. Belly rubs and ear rubs go down very well. Purrtastic! Outside we also have the daddy cat Hobo, the neighborhood Romeo (we had him neutered with the rest so his love roaming days are over) he has started to come inside now to play with the others, he's a big softy really. The kittens have inherited some of his traits. Then there's Eliza. She's a completely outside only cat. She wants to come in but gets so far and then runs. We'll get there, just not yet! All are welcome in our house!
We also have a tropical aquarium with swordtails and a cat fish with an attitude. + More info
Our Home & Location
We live in what is known as the navel of Ireland. The Midlands and the place where the Goddess Eiru lies (Eiru has evolved into Eireann the Irish word for Ireland)) The hill of Uisneach is only 5 mins away and great spot for walking (tours only but they're on Facebook so information is available about when). There's plenty of things to do in the area or within a short drive, horse riding, canal walks, heritage sites etc. A local bus goes by our house a few times per day heading to Mullingar one way and Athlone the other so you're never really isolated!
Our house is not a mansion but it's home. We don't go mad for perfection and it's not always the tidiest but we manage. If you expect a clinical clean place then maybe it won't suit you. We have a big living room/dining, fitted kitchen, bathroom with bath and shower, a couple of bedrooms but the outside space is an acre of garden with trees and shrubs. Lots of birds and wildlife, we have a family of bats in the attic and in the summer you can see a family of redkites flying high above the trees. In autumn we usually hear the pheasants nearby....
January sees us adding fast broadband in our home. We now get up to 70 mbps through aerial rather than the paltry 2-5 Mbps of mobile/cell providers. Landline/fibre is not in the region yet. All bills included for a week's stay. We'd ask for €30 for over 7days up to 16days. Stays longer than this can be negotiated. This fee includes:heating (oil, coal, wood), electric, bins, TV, broadband and local calls. Food will be supplied free of charge, any dietary requirements must be notified otherwise a basic supply will be left.
Any other issues can be discussed. + More info
Responsibilities & Pets
We require super caring sitters that have patience with rescue cats that are adjusting to life in a house full of love, food and company. We've used boarding facilities before but they came home stressed and so we want to try leaving them at home where they feel comfortable.
We consider our pets as our kids, we worry about them constantly, get them checked up and vaccinated, feed them, spoil them. We expect no less feeling towards them from others.
As regards housework, you can do as little or as much as you want, just put the bins out when full and tidy up what you use....
You must be able to make your own way here. We cannot pay travel expenses. If time suits us we may meet you and bring you here but ideally, to get around at your leisure, you'd need to drive. + More info
