House&Pet sitter needed SW coast of Ireland 12-19 March 2019
Our furries and us live in a detached bungalow in SW Ireland near the Ring of Kerry just a few km from the Atlantic coast. We are looking for a sitter to cover for a house sitter who has to return home, while we are away.
We have two dogs, one cat and four hens. Lulu and Mishka get lots of long (1hr+) walks daily and we would expect our sitters to provide a good walk daily: there are fantastic walks on numerous tracks and trails all around us. Mishka does not travel well, unfortunately....
We look for a couple with experience, exemplary references on a par with ours (we also house sit), good communication skills and, of course, integrity. + More info
Our Home & Location
We live in an idyllic location in rural County Kerry, in a three-bedroom bungalow that is warm and comfortable. The house sits on an acre of land that is mainly lawn but we are developing the garden. We have satellite TV, good internet, and Amazon Alexa/Music and more books than we know what to with. So there is plenty to occupy you.
Although it's an ideal location with stunning scenery, we would need you to spend most of your time with our pets, and would not be interested in anyone who wanted to be away from the pets for more than a few hours....
It's a rural address but a car may be available by arrangement. + More info
Responsibilities & Pets
As well as looking after the house, we have two adorable dogs, one of whom, Mishka, is quite nervous (she was rescued), the other is Lulu, a young and very friendly but vigorous Karakachan (Bulgarian Shepherd dog) who is both lovable and affectionate but very powerful, so you would need to be at ease with a big dog. For this reason, we are not able to consider applications from anyone with very young children. Our cat, Daisy, lives an independent existence and can be very affectionate or aloof, as the mood takes her: she is kept in overnight. We used to keep chickens and may have a few by the time this house sit begins, in which case they would need locking into their coop nightly, letting out each morning, checking the feed and water, and occasionally cleaning out.
We would particularly love to hear from keen gardeners as we are developing ours and we would expect you to do a bit of gardening from time to time. We are likely to pay someone to mow the lawns....
This assignment would suit a couple willing to spend most of the time at the house. + More info
