Experience Christmas in Ireland
We live 8km outside Dungarvan, a seaside town on the south coast of Ireland, in a rural setting with fantastic views. We have 3 dogs, 2 cats and some chickens. We are going to Australia for 3.5 weeks, and would like to have someone come and take care of our animals. You will need to drive, but we can add a driver with a clean licence to our car insurance and give you use of our car. Dungarvan has lots of nice restaurants and bars, beautiful beaches, 3 golf courses and is the starting point for the Deise Greenway, a new 46 km walking/cycle path. Our house has 3 bedrooms and all mod cons.
Our Home & Location
Our house is a renovated and extended cottage with 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms - modern, lots of light, wood fired stove, underfloor heating, well equipped kitchen. It is situated on an acre of gardens on a hill with great views and although rural, it is not isolated.
Dungarvan has lots of good pubs (many with traditional music), restaurants and a food market every Thursday. The recently opened Deise Greenway, a walking/cycle track, starts in Dungarvan and goes all the way to Waterford, with fantastic scenery on the way - you can use our bikes to explore if you like. Clonea beach is less than 10 km from the house and An Rinn Gaeltacht (where Irish is the main language) is close by. There are lovely mountain walks in the nearby Comeragh mountains, and villages like Lismore, with it's beautiful castle is 25km away. For more information check www.dungarvan.ie...
Cork city (and airport) is an hour and 15 minutes away, and Waterford is a 40 minute drive.

Responsibilities & Pets
We want to go on holiday and enjoy ourselves knowing that our pets will be well looked after. They are not difficult to mind - the dogs and cats are fed twice a day and the chickens are left out each morning and put in at night. Their food and water just needs to be kept topped up and we are usually rewarded with eggs, but maybe not in winter! We usually walk the dogs once a day in the woods a couple of kilometers from the house or along the Cunnigar, a sand spit that stretches out into Dungarvan bay and they have the freedom to run around in our large garden.
Our cats were rescued feral kittens, a brother and sister, and they live outside, so they have a cosy bed in one of our sheds. Machka, the male, is very friendly while Chroi, his sister, is shy. They are sometimes joined by another cat and if he arrives at mealtimes, he is fed too....
Our dogs are Penny, Fia and Benjy. Penny is our old lady and even though her hearing is not great anymore, the others know that she is still in charge. She is quite independent, and as long as her routine is not upset too much, is very relaxed. Fia is our very playful and affectionate labrador cross. She loves her walks and her food and just wants everyone to love her. We adopted Benjy earlier this year and he was very reserved at first but has settled in well now. He loves playing with Fia and chasing the cats (but they don't seem to care). They all have their own beds. + More info
