Loving dog sitter needed for an adorable setter in rural Italy
I am a travel & food writer, so I hit the road frequently. Sometimes I ask my friends to look after Modigliani the dog but it is not always possible and, now and then, I need a house & pet sitter.
Our Home & Location
The house is located in a small mountain village in the heart of the La Maiella National Park.
The village has lovely old stone buildings, a fort tower (XIV century), where the church bells ring, like in old days, three times a day and the locals say "hello" to strangers. There are three excellent restaurants in the village, bars, a pharmacy, traditional butcher's, post office and bakery. Bigger supermarkets and more restaurants are within a short drive....
It is a great location for nature lovers and outdoors enthusiasts as there are many hiking and biking trails in the area.
A bus goes to the nearby train station (10 minutes away) and Pescara three times a day. + More info
Responsibilities & Pets
The sitter would have to take care of my dog Modi: feed him twice a day, during longer sits make a pot of soup for him once-twice a week (he is a picky eater and not very fond of dry food), walk him (two short walks or one long walk a day), play with him as he is an energetic dog, let him out to the garden (many times a day!). In summer, you would also have to water the garden in the morning.
Please note, I expect regular messages/emails/photos from the dog sitter to know how things are going. If you are not prepared to do it do not apply....
Modi is a rescued dog with a very delicate soul. It takes a while for him to get used to strangers, so you would have to be patient and gentle with him. In summer months the garden needs to be watered once-twice a day. + More info
