Enjoy the Italian Adriatic Sea
Hello! My husband and I are Americans living and working in Italy for the time being. We are loving our new adventure and using the opportunity to travel as much as we can. We have one cat and she's really easy to care for. We also live on the Adriatic Sea fully equipped with a front row view of the crystal blue water. We are very outgoing people and there is pleanty to do in the area...castles, ruins, hiking trails with panoramic views, beautiful beaches, boat tours and lots of towns to visit. We also live in the area where it's easy to catch a bus or train to nearby towns or airports for day trips or short trips.
Our Home & Location
We are located right off the Adriatic Sea in the Puglia region of Italy where you will be sandwiched between the gorgeous sea and towering mountains with vineyards and olive tree groves in between. This area is known as the up and coming food and wine region...we agree!!! We have a 3 bedroom apartment (master bedroom, guest bedroom and a study). The master bedroom will be closed off during your stay but you will have access to the rest of our home. The apartment includes a large fully equipped kitchen, dinning and living room area. There is 1 bathroom that includes a bathtub and a shower. There is a washer and dryer, wifi, TV and espresso/tea machine.
You can easily walk or bike around Manfredonia. Many of the small towns we mention below can be reached by bike or bus from Manfredonia. In the summer there is a train station open in Manfredonia otherwise Foggia is the nearest train station (30 min drive/bus ride). There is a castle 5 min walk from our home which is where the main street is located with many restaurants and shops. The Manfredonia beach is 5 min walk or many take a seat on the rocks right across from our apartment. There are also beautiful beaches in Mattinata or Siponto which are neighboring towns about 15 min drive/30 min bike ride. There are hiking trails located nearby
called Monte Saraceno, Monte Sacro and Foresta Umbra. There is a beautiful historic town called Monte Saint Angelo with panoramic view of the sea, beautiful buildings and pottery and a unique crusade church built into a cave just up the mountain. We are 2 min walk from a small market, fruit and vegetable stand, butcher and bakery. The local supermarket is a 15 min walk. The nearest airports are Bari 1.5 hrs drive/bus, Pescara 2 hrs drive/bus, Naples 2.5hrs drive/bus and Rome 5 hrs drive/ 3-5 hr train from Foggia. Day trips in Puglia can be reached by car/bus/train to include Vieste, Trani, Matera, Alberobello, Lecce, Pompei, Herculaneum, Amalfi Coast/Sorrento/Positano, etc.
Responsibilities & Pets
We like to keep our home clean and tidy and we would expect you to treat it the same during your stay. We are also nonsmokers and would prefer that the sitter is as well. Belle does not take well to other animals so no other animals are allowed in the apartment. We also have quite a few plants and we'd ask those be watered weekly as well.
Belle is easy to care for. She just needs her litter box cleaned every other day. She typically needs food and water replenished every other day. Other than these basic needs, she just wants someone to cuddle with and get a few pets every now and then. Belle does vomit about once a month. If she does vomit during your stay, we would ask for you to clean this up...sorry :(
