Spend Christmas and New Years in beautiful Japan! Sitter needed for 3 weeks from December 16 - January 7
Hello! I live on beautiful Rokko Island in Kobe, Japan. I have a lovely one bedroom nicely furnished apartment and a beautiful rescued saluki. Sally is very lazy but does not like a break in the routine so I would like someone to stay with her in our home.
Sally was rescued from the Saudi Arabian border, and flown from Dubai to Osaka, Japan. She is a timid dog who sleeps most of the time. Sally enjoys walks on the Greenbelt here on Rokko Island. She gets scared easily when outside, so please understand that anyone carrying an umbrella, riding a bike, or jogging might frighten her. A calm, loving reminder that she is OK helps her feel more comfortable....
Because of her former life, Sally gets scared easily, and would do best with a woman or couple. She is quite afraid of children, so families are not an option for her.
My apartment is in the heart of Kobe, Japan, and has high speed wifi, air conditioning, and you will be a very short walk from the Rokko Liner, which takes you into Sannomiya, Sumiyoshi, or Uozaki, where you can enjoy delicious Japanese food, shopping, music, culture and festivities. You will be a short train ride to many beautiful Japanese cultural attractions, and the Shinkansen high speed bullet train is only 30 minutes away by train.
Rokko Island is like living in a beautiful park, with everything you need within walking or biking distance. Here on the island, we have lovely waterfront cafes, bars, shopping, festivals, delicious Japanese food, Indian food, Sri Lankan food, Italian food, and Chinese food, to list a few!
My apartment is a 3 minute walk to a lovely gourmet grocery store and pharmacy, and there is a larger grocery store ten minutes from my home.
In Japan, everyone bikes everywhere! My bike will be available to you for the duration of your stay!
Sally has a yearly pass to the dog park, Life with Dog Run, which is 2 blocks from our apartment. It is fun to go there and see the other dogs, and Sally is beginning to interact with the other dogs. She enjoys her trips there.
Sally is a sweet girl who needs little more than company and understanding. She is affectionate once she trusts you, and loves to sleep! + More info
Our Home & Location
My apartment is on Rokko Island, a beautiful park-like setting in the heart of Kobe, Japan. You will be close to Osaka, (40 minutes by train) and to the old capital, Kyoto, where you can explore Tori gates, bamboo forests and the mysteries of Japan.
You will be very comfortable in my lovely Japanese apartment. It has a fully furnished kitchen, with refrigerator, oven, microwave and tea kettle. The apartment has a large living/dining room, kitchen, bathroom, bedroom and tatami room, where you can sleep on a real Japanese futon if you choose. I prefer my comfy bed! There is a nice, sunny balcony where I enjoy coffee and Facebook! Sally enjoys looking over the edge of the balcony and sunning outside....
In my apartment, you will have television, a computer and an iPad for your use, along with high speed wifi.
My bicycle is available for your use, and everything on the island is an easy bike ride away!
Also, on Rokko Island, there is a fitness centre, RICL, where you can work out using machines or enjoy a variety of group classes. There is a small fee for using the facilities.
A small river runs through Rokko Island, and there are beautiful water features everywhere. You are a ten minute walk from the waterfront, where you can hear musicians playing, see locals fishing, and enjoy sunsets. The Greenbelt is a walking/jogging/biking path around the entire island, and is a great place to get some exercise and walk Sally.
Rokko Island is a beautiful place to stay and it is close to everything Japan! + More info
Responsibilities & Pets
The only responsibility is walking Sally a couple of times a day and giving her food and company. Sally is a sweet girl who requires little care other than kindness and food.
Sally takes heart worm preventative and flea and tick preventative once a month. She also needs ear drops daily....
Sally is very comfortable and happy in our apartment, but gets quite frightened when on walks. She is scared of people on bikes, people carrying umbrellas or baseball bats, and of small children rushing towards her. That being said, she loves long walks on the island. Special care is needed when walking in order to give her confidence that she won't be hurt. + More info
