Auckland inner city suburb - Devonport, North Shore - house and two beagles
My wife (Julie) and I have lived at our current address for 4 years. I am a retired Officer of Parliament and Julie is still working. She is a lawyer. We have two Beagles (Bert and Minnie) both aged 5. They are generally in good health and the prime of life. They love walks, food, bones and cuddles and have a standard routine. We travel overseas at least once each year and we need someone reliable to look after the dogs and the house. We love living here and you will enjoy it too!
Our Home & Location
Situated at the beachside suburb of Devonport on Auckland's North Shore, we have a two storey weatherboard house, built 1886 and heritage listed in a quiet and safe neighbourhood on the lower slopes of Mt Victoria. A large and comfortable home with recently renovated bathrooms (2) and kitchen. Separate sitting room, dining room, two studies, 2-3 bedrooms. Central heating. Extensive upstairs views of Auckland harbour, close walk to three beaches, parks and grounds for walking the dogs and near Devonport village for supermarket, shopping and eateries. 10-15 minutes walk to ferry/village and then a 10 minute ferry trip to centre of Auckland. 15-30 minute ferry frequency.
Responsibilities & Pets
Need to look after house. We have cleaners who clean every Thursday. Rubbish bins out on Monday evenings. Some watering of the garden needed in summer in addition to an automated system.
Bertie and Minnie are brother and sister. A very loving and easy going duo with an established routine. They are fairly pampered but sleep outside at night. They need a one hour walk daily. They do not like car travel. They respond to treats (doesn't every Beagle)!...
Breakfast (main meal) served at around 0700. Dried food at 1700 and a Tux bone at bed time 2100. They have excellent onboard watches to guide food deliverers. Minnie has a half tablet for arthritis morning and night wrapped in a sliver of sliced cheese. Bert had a bout of epilepsy at 3 years old owing to stress and has been on medication (one tablet morning and night wrapped in a sliver of sliced cheese) ever since and there has been no re-occurrence of the problem. The vet is a 15 minute walk from us but we see him only every 6 months for a check up and vaccinations. + More info
