Peebles rural retreat
Hello and welcome. I live 20 minutes inland from Oamaru in a lovely rural area. I own a business in town buying and selling secondhand furniture and antiques which I love. My partner resides in Denver, USA and whilst he is a kiwi he has been living there for three years and will be for another year or so hence I need someone to come and stay in my lovely home in my absence. I am hoping to acquire a housesitter(s) that can sit numerous times and with that in mind I am happy to be flexible with my dates so that we can work in - at most I would be away for three weeks at a time. Flo my lab (retired working dog) usually comes to work with me and hangs out at the shop - the customers love her and she loves the butcher shop next door.
Our Home & Location
Our house is very warm and sunny (being two storied helps) and there are five bedrooms all situated on the second level- one is mine (of course), one is my sons (who is currently studying at Telford in Balclutha) and the other three (one with a queen, one king and one single) are available. There are two lounges one with an open fire, SKY TV and then the open plan living area/kitchen has SKY, Logburner and a heatpump. This opens to the outdoor entertainment area which is well landscaped and set up for entertaining with bar fridges, outdoor furniture and an outdoor fire for those chillier evenings. The entire property is fenced, hedged and gated. It is a gravel road. Modern kitchen with full amenities. Bathroom and two toilets downstairs. Bathroom and toilet upstairs. Full size laundry and walk in pantry. The house is situated on 1 HA with adjoining paddocks so lovely big lawns and a large paddock to muck around in. We are 20 minutes inland from Oamaru, 40 minutes to the local lake, 10 minutes to the local Waitaki River and 20 minutes to the Sea - this is a great district with lots to see and do.
Responsibilities & Pets
My wish list is - I would love people to come and stay and enjoy the property however my main focus is the animals. Flo and Oscar get walked every morning - usually only 2 to 3 kms and just around the roads here - everyone knows them so its easy. In the evenings I take them to the river or run them around the local roads using the Ute - the river is close and especially in summer time it is great for them to get in the water. Flo usually comes to work with me at the shop in the afternoons - if you wanted to go away for a day she can be dropped off there with Dave and collected at the end of the day - she loves it there or she can just hang with you. She loves the car and will quite often just snooze away the day in the sun in the back seat with the doors open (she is retired after all). Oscar - he is a stay at home dog during the day - easy! Cats - easy just feed and water and lots of cuddles. They are pretty independent. Ideally I just want someone to give them time, love and affection and exercise. If you are keen to mow lawns that would be great (we have a ride on and a standard mower) and the same goes with gardening - not a necessity animals are my priority. We keep a clean and tidy house - sure I am forgotten loads of things but don't want to waffle - if you think you fit then let me know !
