Take a break in the tropics
My husband and I live in Singapore during the fall and winter months to teach at the American school. During the breaks, we often travel back the United States, where we are from, and other locations, so we will need frequent house sitters for our cat Eddie.
Our Home & Location
We live in the Bishan area in Singapore, which has great access to local parks including Bishan-Ang Mo Kio park and Macritchie, where you can go to see monkeys, monitor lizards, and if you're lucky otters and colugos. Bishan is a quiet local area with great hawkers (outdoor eating and drinking stalls) and close to two MRT (rail transport) lines (we are 3 minutes to Marymount MRT) that can take you all around the island in minutes. It is a safe place to enjoy the tropics and get a taste of Southeast Asia.
Our condo is a 3 bedroom unit with 2 bathrooms, one off the master and one off the main living area. The kitchen has all the appliances including a washer, dryer, oven, microwave and dishwasher. We live on the 12th floor and have three balconies with safety wires so the cat can't escape. It's a beautiful light and airy apartment!
Responsibilities & Pets
Our cat, Eddie, is easy to care for, as his only real needs are to play, eat, and poop. So he will need to be fed twice a day, and his litter box cleaned out every other day or so. He also could use a brushing. I normally wait until he's on the porch and give him a once over making sure to get his belly and tail. He doesn't like getting brushed but he's really gentle and will allow it. He's pretty easy otherwise. He does like to play "tag" which can be alarming, but he means no harm. He'll just stalk you like your prey and jump out, sometimes he grabs your leg or "bites" but he is always really gentle. He prefers if you tap him and run to an area where he can stalk you again. He gets a little weird if you play too rough with him. He's a gentle giant.
