Looking for housesitter with a love for cats
We are looking for a housesitter to look after our cats but also the house itself. Peter has been living in South Africa most of his adult life but was born in Canada, I am from Germany and met Peter here in SA 12 years ago.
Peter works in IT and he loves composing and making music (The Mystery Girls SA), I am a medical translator and love cooking (preferably vegetarian, and South African wines to go with ...), some quilting and reading whodunits, and cook books and many more.
Our Home & Location
The house is in a quiet neighborhood between Pretoria and Johannesburg, freestanding and fairly big. It was built around 1970, I think. The front garden has lots of lavender, the back garden a splash pool and a lapa, and - being in SA - braai facilities. There are three shopping malls in not too far distance, and the Gautrain station is an 8 minutes drive away and connects Centurion with the airport and Sandton/downtown Johannesburg. The bus station to the Gautrain is a five minute walk away. You do need a car (like in the UK, it is on the left side) but one of our sitters just used UBER taxi and found it so much cheaper in the end - and had his preferred driver to boot.
Responsibilities & Pets
First, there is looking after Fatso and little Penny, our newcomer. Meanwhile they get on with each other, although, Penny is a bit of a scavenger - she eats anything. So be careful what you leave in the kitchen. She also finished her food in no time and then likes to get her head into Fatos's bowl. So they have to be watched at feeding time. They are both quite some characters with their own ways, but that's what cats are. Fatso is "Mr. Fuzzypants" and also hates anything noisy from noisy shoes to thunderstorms. Penny is unfazed by these things, but she is an excellent hunter. And, contrary to Fatso in his youth, she doesn't let go of her prey ... so no chance saving the birdie.
I am a bit fussy, specially about my kitchen and its equipment, and I don't like to have my furniture rearranged :-) Responsibilities would also be looking after the pool and mow the lawn in case our garden boy is not available. There may be more but that's all I can think of at the moment....
Our maid comes twice a week, Tuesdays and Thursdays. She works independently, and doesn't need too much supervision. + More info
