Look after my lovely dogs and enjoy my comfortable home
I am a single retired woman who is besotted about her animals. However, travel is my passion and I need to know that my babies are safe and happy while I am away. I qualified as a senior school teacher, but after 12 years, moved into IT where I became the Network Systems Administrator for a large paper mill. I love to read and my house is full of books, which the sitter is welcome to read. I enjoy Aqua exercises and walk the dogs daily. I also enjoy meditation classes.
Our Home & Location
I live in a stand alone unit in a secure garden complex in Glen Hills, Durban North. I have 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, as well as the usual kitchen, dining room and lounge, which are partly open plan. I have a wild garden with many shrubs, and surrounded by lovely trees. I do have ferns in pots on my front veranda which will require watering. I also have a very pleasant back veranda, with veranda furniture on both. There are two fridges, and cooker with an oven, as well as a microwave and a washing machine, in the kitchen, which is fully equipped. I have a flat screen TV but only access to local shows. There is a DVD player.
The nearest grocery store is about 1 kilometer away. There are several lovely shopping malls in the area, also a good selection of restaurants. The beach is a few kilometers away. A car would be a good idea, as there is no public transport nearby. I have a double garage, so any car could be parked under cover. King Shaka International Airport is about 20 minutes drive away on the N2. Uber is available....
Well worth visiting in Durban are the Botanic Gardens, and Ushaka Marine World. The Promenade at Umhlanga is a very pleasant walk. There is also the Hawaan Indigenous Forest to visit there, and the Mangrove Forest at the mouth of the Umgeni River. + More info
Responsibilities & Pets
My dogs would need lots of love and company, as well as being fed. They have a variety of supplements that go with their food. They are allowed on the furniture, and would probably sleep in my bedroom while I am away. I usually walk them around the complex once a day. Charlie does not always come the whole way, as he is a little arthritic. He is also prone to eczema and an eye needs to be kept on his skin. I have all the remedies required and it should be checked once a day. Apart from the ferns on the veranda, which will need watering, the garden can look after itself or my gardener can come if that is agreeable to the sitter.
