3 Beautiful Bichon Dogs in need of your company
We are a semi-retired couple who live between our two houses, one in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire and one on the Greek island of Kefalonia. This means that we will frequently require a trusted house- and pet-sitter(s) for periods of up to 2-3 weeks in High Wycombe.
Our Home & Location
Our High Wycombe house is a 3-bedroom 1980's semi-detached property with off street parking for 2 cars, conservatory and small, secure, secluded and easily maintained rear garden, south west facing with a small patio area, garden furniture and a bbq. It is a perfect place to sit and watch the beautiful Chilterns Red Kites soaring in the blue skies (hopefully!). The house is located on a quiet development with a small central green, no through traffic and is designed for dog-friendly living with laminate flooring through-out the downstairs and dog-gates on the kitchen and the stairs (the dogs are not allowed upstairs, which is fully carpeted). The sofas are covered with throws as the dogs do like to join their carer(s) for a cosy sit-down whenever possible! Dog walking is limited here to the surrounding quiet, flat roads but a short car journey away is the Wycombe Rye Recreational grounds with its traffic-free wide open grassed areas, canal and footpaths through a wooded area, and a little cafe which is open in the summer months. There is a Tesco Express shop within a short walk away and local bus routes into the town centre pass the end of our road. The town centre offers everything you could possibly want in terms of shopping, cinema, restaurants, theatre and there is a gym and outdoor pool at the Wycombe Rye recreational grounds. The High Wycombe railway runs direct in to London Marylebone in just 30 minutes.
Responsibilities & Pets
The house and garden are designed to be easily managed. Light house work (hoovering, dusting, wiping down surfaces) is of course required and in the dry summer months some light watering of the garden and pots may be required. The main priority is on our 3 boys. Charlie, Bertie & Dexter are non-shedding Bichon Frise dogs. They are very sweet natured and very easy to look after. They do not require an enormous amount of walking but Dexter in particular needs a good walk every day, preferably off lead at the local park (Wycombe Rye) which is a 5 minute car journey away. They know the area well and will not generally wander off or be far away from you. They go back on the lead easily and obediently. They love human and dog company and are very good with children of all ages. They are very happy to just be with someone and love to chill on the sofas in the living room or conservatory with you. Charlie loves a good sunbathe in the garden. However, they are not given the run of the house and are therefore left in the kitchen "behind bars" whenever they are left alone. They can be left for up to 4 hours maximum as long as they have been given adequate oppportunity to "do their business" before being left. They require feeding morning and evening, no fuss, just dry biscuits and fresh water daily. They are very easily bribed with "special treats" and this is very useful when needing to corall them, get them back on to their leads, get them in from the garden, etc. They sleep very well in their beds in the kitchen and it is very unusual to hear from them during the night.
