Emrys and Carwyn, Welsh Terriers need carers so Peter and Rebecca Fowler can travel.
We are Peter and Rebecca Fowler, retired from education having fulfilled many different roles over our career span of 40+ years. We love the beach and take great pleasure running the dogs on the many beautiful spaces in this area. We are 'friends' of the Burton Gallery and the Plough Arts Centre in Torrington. . Last year we learnt to play bowls at our local club and joined the Torridge pool/gym. We are now settled in our new house having moved after 20 years from our family home and look forward to travelling and will enjoy it all the more knowing that our 'Fluffies' are being well cared for.
Our Home & Location
The home we moved from was 200 years old with an amazing history. Our new home is in absolute contrast; we moved here a year ago as its first owners. It is in a small development called the 'Sun Houses' which it truly is; the house faces south with an entire wall of glass. The front garden is within a tall white wall ensuring total privacy on the ground floor, the kitchen dining room looks out on this. At the back of the house is a gravelled area that the two bedrooms have access to via garden doors. One bedroom has an en-suite shower-room, the other is also utilized as a study however the single bed pulls out to make a large double. There is a separate bathroom. On the first floor is a super living room with views over the estuary on one side and pasture on the other (it is definitely worth struggling up the hill to enjoy the views from Hartland to Ilfracombe), it has a balcony from which to watch the sunsets. We have converted the garage into a utility area, dog kennel, general 'things' space, this means that the house is uncluttered. We can walk to the bus stops on the Fremington Road (5 minutes); busses run every 15 minutes from Westwood Ho to Illfracombe stopping everywhere in between and are 'dog friendly'. We are also able to walk to the Tarka Trail (15 minutes) and then down to Instow. The Instow Arms offer a great Sunday Lunch for £7.95 (need to book to get the beach window), it is also 'dog friendly'; Emrys and Carwyn enjoy their visits! We have also made some new friends here who are helpful and supportive.
Responsibilities & Pets
With regard to the house and garden it should be a reciprocation of the agreement that I have made. I will provide the means to ensure that this is possible.Emrys and Carwyn are lively young dogs; they attend dog training each week and respond well to 'treats' and the whistle (Carwyn goes deaf in the presence of football games on the beach - we try to be vigilant). We take them out twice each day, a road walk in the morning and a beach, burrows, moor, Tarka Trail after lunch. The dogs are very companionable and quiet in the evening.
