Sitter wanted for King Charles Spaniel living in a comfortable 4 bedroomed house by the sea
John and I are looking for a sitter to care for our dog. We are retired and have just returned to the UK after 8 years sailing our boat round the world. We are an active, social outgoing couple who likes plenty of adventure in our life. This year we are travelling to San Diego in August for our son's wedding. During our stay in the USA we also plan 2 weeks in Jacksonville with our family. We want a sitter who is happy to care for an elderly dog, and would be happy to stay in a quiet seaside town. We have beautiful dog friendly, quiet and clean beaches. Hornsea has good public transport, good shopping and a lively calendar of events in the town. We have safe off road parking and live on a very quiet access road, looking straight on to the beach.
Our Home & Location
We have a four bedroom house with two bathrooms and a downstairs toilet. We have a shower in the top bathroom and a bath in the middle bathroom. We have wood and porcelain floors downstairs with rugs and fitted carpets in the rest of the house. We have unobstructed sea views from the sitting room and two front bedrooms.. Our kitchen has a two stove electric oven and separate induction hob. There is a dishwasher, washing machine and heat pump dryer. In the top bedroom there is an electric rack dryer. We have full central heating. Our water is metered so some prudence is needed! There is an integral fridge/freezer. We have a separate dining room with seating for 8 if needed. In the sitting room we have a single, double and three seater reclining leather chairs. There is fast broadband, wifi, and we have a large flat screen TV with Amazon prime and Netflix. We do have a land line but use our mobile phones through the wifi. We live 10 minutes walk from the town where there are many independent shops plus 3 small supermarkets. There is a Tesco supermarket within 30 minutes walk or 10 minutes by car. We have many exercise classes in town and lots of other activities including cinema nights, comedy club and music nights etc etc. . There is a library in the town and a small shopping mall on the outskirts. There are buses to Beverley and Hull with the bus stop just outside the house. Hornsea is at the start of the Pennine Way, a pedestrian trail that crosses the whole country from East to West. We are close to Bridlington, Scarborough and Whitby and about 90 minutes by car from the historic city of York. The nearest train stations are Hull and Beverley. Hornsea has one of the largest lakes in Yorkshire. Hornsea mere is a boating lake and home to hundreds of swans and many visiting aquatic birds. It is about 20 minutes walk away and has a lovely cafe. The mere is owned by Wassand Hall, a stately home on the edge of Hornsea. Wassand is worth a visit and is open on certain dates in the summer. There are beautiful walks and a lovely cafe within the walled gardens. Wassand has a fascinating historical past and strong connections with many other stately homes. If you visit there's a good chance you'll meet the owners. Other places worth visiting are Burton Agnes and Sewerby Hall.
Responsibilities & Pets
We have a four double bedroom house on 3 floors with 2 bathrooms and a downstairs toilet. We have a sitting room, dining room and kitchen. We are happy for sitters to use the two upper double bedrooms and bathroom. We have a fitted kitchen with integral double electric oven and induction hob. We have an integral fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washing machine, heat pump dryer and electric rack dryer. We have a small front garden and enclosed rear garden with garden furniture. We hope the sitters will prioritise our dog, Murphy. Getting him out for 2 short gentle walks a day and encouraging him to use the garden regularly if he needs the toilet. Murphy is elderly and fragile and a little confused at times, but he likes getting out for a walk and can still run and walk. We have a dog pram for longer walks and he travels well in the car with a harness. He sleeps in an enclosable soft cage which has an attached cage he can toilet in if needed. He needs to be in his cage at night fastened in to prevent accidents. He should stay dry but we will provide puppy liners for his cage, which will need changing if he toilets. He needs a small amount of mince meat cooking each morning and adding to his dry food. He eats once a day. He has one tablet a day, eye drops and teeth cleaning every morning. He takes his tablet with no issue, Murphy is almost deaf and blind so needs constant supervision when outside and to be on the lead. He can be left for a few hours but not overnight. He is very gentle and easy to care for, and loves to be held and cuddled. We hope the sitter will respect our home, keeping it secure and leaving it as they found it
