Sitter wanted for lovely cat Lucylu in a Birmingham flat with waterside views
Hi, my name is Mary-Rose and I'm originally from Manchester, UK. I'm a PhD student and university lecturer in Birmingham and moved here 6 months ago from Manchester with my cat Lucylu. Before my PhD I was a teacher of English as Second Language for several years. Other things about me are I'm a vegetarian, I like to travel and experience new cultures, and I love cycling and yoga. I also absolutely love animals and have had cats as pets from a young age.
Our Home & Location
Gorgeous, spacious top-floor 2 bed flat with large windows letting in lots of natural light and you can see Edgbaston Reservoir and many trees out of the windows. There isn't a lift so there is quite a lot of going up and down stairs to let Lucy out! The reservoir is a lovely, tranquil place to go for a walk (it takes about half an hour to walk around) and has lots of water-sports activities taking place daily so there's plenty to look at. The flat is in the urban area of Edgbaston, in walking distance to Birmingham City Centre (2 miles away) and is also very close to a major bus route to the city centre and surrounding areas.
Responsibilities & Pets
Lucylu is a rescue cat and is quite timid, she doesn't like too much noise! She is still very playful though too and has lots of toys which she likes to play with. I'm not sure how old she is exactly but the vet thinks she is around 7 years old. When I got her originally I was fostering her and she had a stress condition because of her previous experiences and she used to scratch her fur a lot. Now she is like a different cat since I've adopted her- her skin and fur are very healthy. She does have to have daily medication for her allergies and asthma - she has 1 small tablet each morning crushed into her food but this is very easy to do and there has never been a problem with her eating the food with her medication in. Occasionally in winter she does have little asthma / coughing type episodes but you don't need to do anything as they don't last long and it's just a natural part of her allergies according to the vet. It doesn't happen often either. Lucylu is very easy to look after - she likes to spend most of her time sleeping inside the flat, and stays in overnight but she can go outside as well in the daytime if she wants to and she often likes to go and sit in the communal hall of the flats and then scratches on my front door when she wants to come back in!
I have to mention that it is quite common for Lucy to go off for a few days at a time in my absence but I can give full details about that as she has specific places she goes. It's never far but it does require occasional walking around the gardens calling her!
