Dog sitter required for short breaks in rural Northumberland
We are a retired couple in our mid sixties. Our lovely old labrador Max, now 12 and a half, does not do well in kennels and has a well established daily routine. Our children now have resposiblities and busy lives of their own and are no longer able to come to look after Max while we're away. A housesitter would enable an overdue trip to visit family overseas and perhaps the odd holiday for us.
Our Home & Location
We live in a small village with church duckpond and cricket pitch surrounded by open countryside and only 4 miles from several sandy beaches. Our home is a modern 4-bed semi-detached house with small garden and open views. Nearest pub 1 mile, convenience store 4 miles, shopping centre 5.5 miles. The many and varied local attractions include several castles and gardens, good golf courses, and a wide choice of excellant pubs and restaurants.
Responsibilities & Pets
Main responsibility is looking after Max.
No garden maintainence required and all we'd ask is that the house be kept clean and tidy....
Here's an outline of Max's routine:-
Morning walk - 1/4-1/2 mile slowly at his own pace, he's quite lame and uses a ramp to get into back of car.
Breakfast and medication (oral, no injections) - can detail later.
Sleeps 3-4 hours - can be left during that time.
Pee and perhaps a short walk in the village. Tends to pad around after you as you move around house and garden.
Evening meal and medication about 6 pm
Evening walk (and poo) in village about 8pm. He'll let you know by a pleading look with his head on your knee before nibbling your feet if you disobey. He prefers not to poo in the garden. + More info
