Christmas and New Years with Dennis in the Amazing Peak District
Amazing opportunity to celebrate Christmas and New Years in the beautiful High Peak. Spend your holidays in our warm and comfortable house, walking our staffie-cross Dennis in the glorious country-side. The sitting times are somewhat flexible. We're trying to get home to Canada for Christmas and are happy to consider anything from a week to three weeks that covers Christmas day itself by at least a couple of days.
Our Home & Location
We live in a lovely village. It is made up of primarily independent shops and businesses. We have a couple of wonderful coffee-shop/bakeries, one of which serves possibly the best coffee in Peak District, and a number of fabulous restaurants including an Italian and a great Saturday-night only pop up restaurant. There are several lovely pubs in the village and several others within walking distance. There is large Tesco within a 15 minute walk along the canal and a Co-op convenience shop in the centre of the village with a bank machine. You can access this all on foot and, if you are not driving, you can easily access the village and our house via our local train station. We are direct into central Manchester by train in 40 minutes and connecting in Stockport within 3 hours of London. If you do drive there is street parking available by the house. The area is ideal for walking and you can be in the countryside and open fields within minutes of walking from the house. We have a very comfortable warm house which boasts fantastic views across the valley. It is a two-up, two-down with a kitchen extension. We have a full bathroom on 1st the floor and toilet/sink on ground floor. There is a gas fire in the lounge and a separate dining room. The kitchen is equipped with all standard mod cons including a washer/dryer, dishwasher and microwave. We have the ability to sleep up to 6 people in the house.
Responsibilities & Pets
The major responsibility when house sitting would be taking care of Dennis. We adopted Dennis from the RSPCA two years ago and he is the light of our life!! Dennis is a fabulous, placid dog but his build makes him quite powerful so he will need a strong person to take him on walks. He is great around people including children and other dogs. However, he is very reactive to cats so we always walk him on a short lead and as a precaution always have a muzzle on. He doesn't mind this in least. He is well-known and well-liked in the village. He loves walking! He is very happy at home alone up to 6-7 hours. He is fed twice a day - 7am and 6pm. He is allowed on the couch in the living room and you might have to share it with him!
