Housesitter, dog walker, animal feeder
We are both retired and love it! We do various voluntary activities and also enjoy things like dog walking, travel, bridge, theatre, gardening and friends. We are hoping to travel a bit more in the future subject to finding house sitters as we don't think our dogs and cats will enjoy being kennelled! The dogs, both labradoodles, are usually pretty good although not necessarily highly trained! They do always come back on walks, play fantastically together and have lovely natures. Twiggy is very laid back and gentle and Reggie is a typical 1 year old, loving attention and thinking his bottom wiggling will get him anything he wants!
Twiggy is in fact Reggie's mother - she had 12 puppies in May 2017 and we ended up keeping one! They are good at being left and we have an outside kennel if they are being left for a long period. Reggie occasionally decides to chase one of the cats but other times will curl up in the dog bed with them.
Our Home & Location
Our house has five bedrooms and four bathrooms, 3 of which are en suite. There is a large kitchen/breakfast room with aga for the cooler months and separate electric oven. Good sized garden plus paddock for the sheep. You can dog walk straight from the door. We have a cleaner who comes in once a week.
We are in a rural area but with good supermarkets 15 to 20 minutes away and interesting towns 30 to 40 minutes away. Marnhull is one of the largest villages in England and is celebrated in Thomas Hardy's Tess of the D'Urbervilles. It has a post office/shop; a convenience store; a hairdresser; one pub with another one about to reopen; a doctor's surgery; pharmacy, three churches, two primary schools and a garage for repairs - not petrol. More extensive shopping is available in Sturminster Newton 3½ miles whilst the larger towns of Shaftesbury 6 miles and Gillingham 6 miles, together with Sherborne 11 miles, are all easily accessible. Dorset really is a beautiful county with lots to explore including countryside, historical towns and the wonderful Jurassic coast which is about an hour away by car. We will leave information about places to go and things to see....
There is a car available for use by any housesitter subject to having the relevant driving licence and insurance. + More info
